Death to Spies 3 Fundraiser

A new Indiegogo campaign is underway for Death to Spies 3, a third installment in this Smershy stealth/action series (thanks Jason) This sequel was announced a few years ago, but the campaign explains this was dropped by their publisher, so they are turning to the community to see if there is enough support to see it through. They offer a look at the previously released GamesCom 2011 trailer showing the game's late '50s/early '60s Cold War setting. Here's word on the game:

In this game you play as a group of three soviet agents during the period of the Cuban missile crisis. It's a stealth based game, where you have to be quiet to successfully finish your mission. Each character of your group has each own abilities and gadgets that can help in your tasks. You got some form of a freedom to complete each mission - with one or all three members of your group. It's like the mix of some Hitman and Commandos series.

The final exam of the OSS in WW2 was to drop you off outside New York City with 20 bucks, no ID, the clothes on your back, and gave you 24 hours to come up with as much confidential data from the government as you could.

Sounds a lot like the Henderson Challenge.

You should try Moment of Truth. It's significantly better than the first one. It's like the jump between Hitman 1 and 2.

Anyway, it looks like this fundraiser is already DOA. Barely $200 in the first day. Shame, as the last game was great and the world always need more stealth games. If the game gets enough media coverage, maybe publishers will start showing interest.

I wasn't aware they made a first sequel. The original game was just godawful.

I've always wanted a hardcore cold war espionage game. One that focused on and around the tradecraft of espionage.

The final exam of the OSS in WW2 was to drop you off outside New York City with 20 bucks, no ID, the clothes on your back, and gave you 24 hours to come up with as much confidential data from the government as you could.

How *awesome* would that be for a training mission?

They already have the game half done and that includes the games core mechanics and systems. Now they just need to pump out assets to finish the game. I think $80k is enough for that. Now the question is whether or not I think they can actually get $80k on Indiegogo. The problem with Indiegogo is that your money is taken even if the project fails to meet their goal, placing all the risk on the people funding.

Edit: Actually, looks like they are offering refunds if the goal isn't met. In that case, I'm in!

Good concept but they're platform focused and asking for a pittance when it appears they'll need a hell of a lot more money, so pass.

Lol, what?
