GRID 2 Trailer

This trailer introduces LiveRoutes, a feature in GRID 2 that will switch the tracks in the game's city environments dynamically in the upcoming racing sequel, offering a test of racers' reflexes. "LiveRoutes is the new challenge event that weíre most proud of in GRID 2. Itís as fresh to racing games as Flashback was when we introduced it as a mechanic in the original GRID," said Clive Moody, Senior Executive Producer for GRID 2 at Codemasters. "In a LiveRoutes event, you donít know whatís coming next and it turns each race into a test of your racecraft, car handling and reactions on circuits that cannot be learnt. In both career mode and online, LiveRoutes offers near limitless possibilities in every race and itís a great leveler, even for the most experienced racing game players." Here's word on the video: "The new LiveRoutes video shows how the road changes ahead dynamically on different playthroughs, creating new routes through GRID 2ís Paris Street Racing environment. Available in both single-player and in multiplayer, LiveRoutes events feature millions of potential corner combinations and offer players extensive replayability."

Also, seeing a racing game with such nice graphics just makes me want a new gen remake (see: carbon copy gameplay) of RBR that much more.

Ahh yeah thanks for reminding me, that totally sucked balls.
I could do well during the day but when night time came I lost all my advantage and cars blew by me like I was standing still.

I agree Showdown was garbage. I also disliked this whole fireworks and sparkling stuff exploding around you, atmosphere they gave to Dirt 2-3. Even the menu system in Dirt 1 was so much more professional. Gymkhana can also go and blow a goat! I want a rally racing game not this burning rubber spinning around in a fucking box horseshit!

By the way I usually discourage people to preorder but if you really want this game GMG has a 25% off coupon expires May3 and they also have the game 10% off, so when it is all said and done the total comes to like $33 and change for the preorder. You also get some bonus dlc.

In what way?
In a way that you have to start turn into corners before you can even see them, the car is going so fast the rewind feature is a must, you need to know when and where the turns are coming up or you either crash your car or you slow down so much the other cars will just blow right by you.

Okay, I see what you're saying, but that was really the same in Grid 1, imo. Like you said, the city tracks were literally about memorizing every turn in order to get a decent lap, especially on the higher difficulty levels.

My big nightmare was always Le Mans at night. WHY DO I HAVE NO HIGH BEAMS??!

Why? Why Codie, WHY?! God, I wish I could just go up to them, grab them by the shoulders and shake the ever loving fuck out of them! One core tenet of racing is learning the track...every turn, dip, rise and straight, where to pass, where to out-brake, etc...If one is serious about running up front in a race, then you have to know the track! This 'feature' throws that completely out the fuckin' window! I mean, I understand the appeal, in an 'arcadey'-type of way, it gives the game a lot of replay value. And I'll admit it's an interesting 'feature', something I applaud Codie for having the balls to try new things in an established series. That said, it's a 'feature' that I will, personally, turn off right from the get-go (if it's even possible to do so).

Sometimes I wonder what direction they're trying to take their racing games in. They typically have a great graphics, sound and physics engine, but then they mess it up by doing stupid shit (like DIRT Showdown Puke ). They should either make a full-on sim (like F1 2012) or full-on arcade shit (like DIRT Showdown Puke ) Not this in-between crap. Don't pull out my cockpit view and change the fuckin' track around and then make me fall in love with the graphic and physics engine, dammit!

It is just all twitchy to the point where it is not enjoyable anymore.
I've loved Grid 1 and the demo derby mode was amazing amount of fun, but those city tracks with the twists and turns and blind corners drove me nuts!
Again I might get this game because I like Codies race games for the most part, but the dynamic track changing and the (seems to be) faster gameplay is not a positive feature of the game for me personally.
I don't care about cockpit view as I've always raced in a hood cam view or behind the car cam in drifting events.

Maybe people are getting sick of this type of comment..

But basically the only reason I really enjoyed GRID was because of the cockpit view.
Now that it's gone, there's really nothing here for me.

The cockpit view is always waay to restrictive with regards to what you can 'view' out of it and not very realistic. I hope they still have the on the hood view, which was pretty awesome. As for the livetrack feature, im pretty certain it will be featured only in certain events and not throughout the game which would really suck. I cant imagine the Nurenburg or Le Mans tracks changing into who knows what with every lap, that would suck balls...

In order to race effectively, you MUST learn the track. This whole switching track thing is a big turnoff.

I cannot believe this is being touted as a feature. Albeit, the original Grid was never much of a sim, more of an arcade game. Still, they could have just repainted that game with better graphics and I would have been happy. Grid 2 just keeps taking away features that I want in a racing game.

As for the cockpit view, I think that Codemasters missed a big opportunity here what with the Oculus Rift coming out. A cockpit view is what you'd want with those.

Otherwise, this whole series and Codemasters can fuck right off.

In what way? It looks basically the same as Grid to me, to be honest.

Also some people that have the preview built were saying the game was hard to play with steering wheels, it is more of a gamepad type game.

That could very well be. I found the first one played fine with a gamepad, but it's not the same experience as playing with a wheel, obviously.

I might get it but I am not all that excited about it tbh. Loved the first one but this game just sort of more of the same by the looks of it.

That's kind of what I like about it. I'd love more cars and more courses with the same awesome gameplay

I don't care about cockpit view personally, but I can definitely understand why people who like it are very disappointed that it's not there anymore. I also understand their decision to can it, since it's likely a metric shitload of work to make all the different cockpits. I just don't get why they don't compromise and just make one cockpit. Obviously it's not the greatest thing in the world, but those people who absolutely need cockpit view can have it then.

On the flipside, I'm really excited for Grid 2 as I absolutely LOVED the first one. And that Pagani Huayra should be awesome.
