Out of the Blue

Happy Earth Day! Here's hoping you got the Earth something nice, and no, a card won't cut it. As my elementary school principal once said: "Every day should be Earth Day." And he was a bit of a sociopath, so that tells you something, though maybe more about me than Earth Day. Anyway, here's to a good one. And hug a tree or something.

2002 called, it wants it's joke back...

Mean while, I'm playing Homefront. That game is FUCKING HORRIBLE. Why does it have any fans, why did it get 70/100 metacritic. This game is truly the most lazy, horrible thing I have played :|, to celebrate Earth day, let's remove this thing (Homefront) from the Planet.

LMAO, that is awesome... and I'm a web developer Bigcry

what have we done.

Yeah, I started it on the Xbox a few weeks back. Miserable. I mean, they did nothing right. Even the presentation - a too long movie to start the game. The loading icon is a CD spinning rather than something special to the game. Subtitles are in the exact middle of the screen and sometimes disappear after a second and several seconds before they're spoken.

The gameplay itself? I had to die about 20 times in one of the first fights. They kept throwing grenades at me, but there was no way to tell how close they were to me or if they'd damage me at all.

I made it to the part where they mention the something or other, then a giant vehicle comes smashing through the house I was in. It was supposed to be a big event, I guess, but I started firing thinking it was the enemy, then realized I was supposed to control it, which was super boring.

Out the game went. I've put 33 hours into XCOM on the PC since.

No one complained about the long ass intro to Half Life.
Loading is actually part of the story, articles and what not - maybe that is an xbox issue.
Subs were fine on PC.
Yea some parts are confusing, but you have saves everywhere, so not a big deal.

I actually enjoyed it, not really defending it, but I thought it was a decent linear SP shooter.

There's a big difference between a long-ass intro that's part of the game world and a long-ass intro that's just news clippings and file footage thrown down showing you that North Korea rose to power and successfully invaded the US. In fact, that sentence alone did everything the file footage did.

If they just update/release the old games on digital services and sit on the IP awhile then whatever, I don't care.

If they decide to release a third person cover shooter with the Homeworld IP then well, screw em. Also keep Randy away from the media at all costs.

And in other news Gearbox has picked up the rights to the Homeworld IP. I am not sure how to take the news. Guess it depends if your playing Borderlands 1/2 or Duke/Colonial Maries at the time you read it.

I don't feel overly confident. I think BL2 was a fluke, and much of their other stuff (even BL1) didn't impress me.

Has The Half Elf been around lately?

I went to his place of employment over the weekend to see a stand up act. The venue left a lot to be desired, haha, but that led to a ton of good jokes by the headliner.

I think I'll go take a poop in the yard today to celebrate ED and give something back!
