Rise of the Triad Multiplayer Footage

This video offers over 17 minutes of multiplayer gameplay footage from Rise of the Triad, the upcoming remake of, well, Rise of the Triad. Fighting the trend of shooters growing slower to accommodate regenerating health and other soul-crushing elements, the clip shows the game's throwback movement speed, which seems as fast as the original DOOM, which we recall had players running at the equivalent of 90 MPH.

This was definitely made with those of us in mind who grew up playing Doom over BBS/Dwango, Quake and Rocket Arena, Duke3D and the original ROTT, for sure. And I love them for it.

Yes, please! Enough of borefest brown hoorah linear shooters with two fricking guns, bring back some silly and some skill to the genre and I'll be all over this. Fond memories of slapstick gory original from the golden age of fps

TO THE EXTREEEEEEEEEME!

Please bring back rocket jumps

I think in one of the developer interviews I heard that rocket jumping is actually required for some parts of the game?

ROTT is officially licensed and is nothing to do with Gearbox so I don't imagine that any success will have a bearing on D3D reloaded.

I couldn't get into ROTT originally but this looks very good.

I know the ROTT IP has nothing to do with Gearbox.
I meant, since These guys started on D3 Reloaded, and had to put the kabosh on it... maybe if ROTT does well enough, it will make Gearbox open up the doors for D3 Reloaded.

Character models/animations/whatevers kinda look funny in the game world, but it looks like a blast. Sooooold.

Maybe if ROTT is successful enough Gearbox will let them do Duke 3D.

It's funny because the same people behind the ROTT remake got their start with Duke Nukem Reloaded, which was notoriously fucked over by crafty Gearbox lawyers and Randy Pitchford. They worked more than a year on an officially sanctioned Duke 3D remake only to find out from Gearbox the license they signed never said they could publicly release the game at any time in the future.

I guess the Duke IP went from the frying pan into the fire, eh?

Maybe if ROTT is successful enough Gearbox will let them do Duke 3D.

It's not walkthrough footage, but the trailer has single player footage in it: killing Nazi's, a bunch of the weapon effects, etc.

I will always remember the original as it was one of the firsts that gave me motion sickness while playing it. Classic

Too fast paced for me, almost looks like the player models are just stationary and gliding around the map with no animations. They over did the bloom and lighting saturation on that outdoor castle map.

I hope it's a success though, in an interview they hinted at possible revivals of older apogee games like Blake Stone.

I'm still waiting to see real singleplayer footage of this thing.

One of the most fun multiplayer FPS that I've ever played. I broke many a keyboard with hammerfists while playing RotT back in the day.

Dog mode...God mode....drunk missle launcher....
