Who in the fuck cares? Seriously?

If it's his money, he should be able to spend it on magical space hookers that poop out rare earth metals if that's what he wants to do and that's what people who attend his party enjoy. As long as no one is being hurt or forced against their will, this really is a non-story. People need to grow up and stop trying to be a white knight at every opportunity.

"White knight."

Wow.

They just should have ordered some male strippers for the ladies and it all would have been fine.

Except it's not a 99% male demographic situation on either the development or the commercial side of the fence and hasn't been in decades.

To me the idea of needing strippers or escorts for a videogame trade show party is on the same line as portraying the average game player as a fat, pimply, neckbeard who lives in their mom's basement and never grew past the mental age of 14. Neither is an accurate reflection of the consumer nor their average expectations of the industry.

Shenanigans like this just serve to poopsock the medium back to the basement for a little longer.

Of course they hired them. It's the only way those fat clowns can meet girls...any girls. It's a good thing Notch has money because he'd never be able to touch a girl otherwise.

Edit: Awww, poor Brenda is offended is she? Gee, she didn't seem so outraged when she was profiting off Playboy.

The real funny thing is, if memory serves, the person at Mojang who organizes all their event shit, and would be in charge of hiring hookers if that was indeed done, is a woman.
Romero's wife was both too (in charge of the party and a woman), and she still was let go after that other party thing last week.

Edit: It looks like she resigned from the IGDA board in protest of the party (along with at least 2 others), so I'm probably incorrect about the above.

The IGDA executive director is a woman.

Does the sex of who was in charge really matter though?

I bet it was the club where the party was held that did the hiring of the females. They can't turn away dudes at the door like they would on a regular night so they brought in outside talent to maintain the ratio

And who the f**k even cares, paid escorts are not unusual on VIP parties in business where there are 99% all dudes. They are 100% legal as long as all they do is talk and make you feel welcome. Which is the ENTIRE POINT of a VIP room.

Seems to me like this party was a blast ^^ Ignore the usual fembot trashtalk. It starts to get really annoying to have this nonsense every single god damn time there is any kind of party gathering for a 99% male demographic. Bah!

I really don't get what the boohoo is with this. Did they offer sex? No? Then topic over and closed. If some dudes can't handle women that talk to them that is not Notches fault, as much as I hate defending him.

Do you have a single fact to back that up?

Alex May didn't go to the party, but tweeted it. His tweet starts, "It appears..." indicating he didn't have first hand info. Other tweets, on the other hand DID indicate first hand info:
  • "wandering through the backstage of .party(),..."
  • "the girls who were paid up be here to party..."
  • "I spoke to someone who was 'paid to party'..."

With that much evidence, it would seem this is true. I'm sure Marcus didn't handle the details of the party himself. Plausible deniability.

I suppose if there was ever a company that could afford hookers and blow...

Thats evidence?

Since one of the supposed tweeters about it said he never tweeted it, this could just be some malicious rumors (the idea probably spawned from that other recent party that caused some to resign).

Or, since notch fits the category of having too much money to know WTF to do with it, maybe someone along the line did actually pay for paid escorts (even if they were just for conversation).
