Watch Dogs Trailer

The Watch Dogs website now offers a new trailer called "ctOS Threat Monitoring Report," offering a look at Ubisoft's upcoming hacking game through the eyes (or lenses, rather) of the Central Operating System (ctOS). Here's how this works: "Players will assume the role of Aiden Pearce, a new type of vigilante who, with the help of his smartphone, will use his ability to hack into Chicago’s ctOS and control almost every element of the city. Aiden will be able to tap into the city’s omnipresent security cameras, download personal information to locate a target, control systems such as traffic lights or public transportation to stop a chase, and more. The city of Chicago is now the ultimate weapon."

I have the same concerns as I did the first time I saw this. The draw distance looks HUGE, which is cool, but there is no way current hardware can produce a GTA environment and have that draw distance. My concern is that it looks so good because it is a tiny 4 block demo and that is the only thing being drawn.

Also, if you chase down a bad guy, how come the cops are coming after you? I dunno. Wait and see on this one....

Hey let's take the exact same footage from months ago then release it as a "new" trailer with a redundant voiceover and call it a day.

Game looks good, still.

No kidding. The demo looked exceedingly scripted the first time, releasing the same thing again later just makes it feel moreso.

Still, I'm all down for person of interest the game, even if it doesn't turn out as amazing as it should.

I hope this plays as good as it looks.. it's like Deus Ex meets Grand Theft Auto.

Drool2

There's no game I'm looking forward to more than this. That usually means it will turn out horrible but I'm going to keep the faith.

Compare it to something great like Sleeping Dogs.

Never played it.
Then again I didn't have much interest in a Kung-Fu GTA sandbox.

Watchdogs, though... I definitely have an interest.

Of course, I will wait for post launch reviews and opinions before I take the plunge.

still not a big fan of how he so liberally kills innocents. you cannot take the lives of even the most inconsequential people and still lay claim to being a fighter for the greater good. i remember in the first trailer he caused like a 50 car pile-up, and there were almost certainly civilian fatalities involved. after that any kind of moral standing he might have had was completely bankrupt.

I am very cautiously optimistic. There is a lot about this game that interests me but, so far, this is all just eye candy.

Also, the old trailer had him inside a building while a party was going on. Or was that the very first trailer and you guys are referring to a second trailer that I did not see?

the latter. there was the reveal trailer, then this one, but completely from pierce's gameplay POV, and now this narrated one. i like it because it reveals more of the backstory and world of watch dogs, so it's not precisely the same trailer.

Yeah it's meant to be the same trailer from another perspective or something

Laying the sales pitch on a bit thick now...

I think it's new footage interwoven with old, I recognize some of the scenes from links but I don't recognize much of the early portion from the cameras perspective.

edit: what nin said.

I don't believe that is the case.

It looks like the exact same demo, they just moved the camera around and narrated it. Same woman almost getting kidnapped, same hacking the poles against the cop cars, same get away on top of the train, etc...

That sounds stupid.

Why would you do that to this fine looking game.

Don't compare it to GTA.

Compare it to something great like Sleeping Dogs.

POI is a great show, good call NKD, this definitely reminds me of that. It's nice to see something that mixes its own overarching story well with weekly premises that aren't horribly formulaic. It takes a bit for the lead to really find and express the character well but he gets there eventually. Hes repressed and generic through the early parts of the first season but even that fits well within the story framework given his background.

Yeah it's a hard character to play, I think. He's not entirely soulless obviously or he wouldn't do what he does, but a lot of his emotions are deadened from the events of his backstory. You can't really play him as emotive and overly expressive, or as a cliche wisecracking badass. So he's quiet, but with a dry and sarcastic sense of humor and some charm when needed.

A lot of people find him utterly boring, but I think he's just a subtle character who is neither emo nor overly eager to flex his badassness.

Seems more like Person of Interest means Grand Theft Auto. Speaking of which, I would play the SHIT out of a Person of Interest game. Though it would probably have a lot of fail frustrating escort missions.
