Amazon Stops Selling Digital SimCity

Amazon.com has suspended sales of the downloadable version of SimCity due to connectivity issues with the game. The page carries the following note: "Many customers are having issues connecting to the "SimCity" servers. EA is actively working to resolve these issues, but at this time we do not know when the issue will be fixed. Please visit https://help.ea.com/en/simcity/simcity for more information." This note is also on the page for the boxed version, but this remains available for purchase. EA has announced they are adding servers to address connectivity and authentication issues that have plagued the game since launch, and the downloadable version currently has a one-star rating on Amazon based on 929 customer reviews. Thanks Ant via Geek.com via Slashdot.

hehe They can always fix that later..

They will! On April 28th, they will announce the "Big Cities DLC!" for a mere $14.99!

That will actually happen, I would put nothing past these clowns anymore.

And then there's the brilliant firetrucks. 3 houses are on fire on the same road. 3 fire trucks are dispatched. The first firetruck stops at the first house on fire. Firetrucks 2 and 3 are now stuck behind firetruck 1 and can't get to houses 2 and 3, which burn down.

That's pretty damn funny. Such an easy fix too, first truck out heads to the farthest fire, 2nd truck to the next furthest etc..

I can't believe people still defend these guys, what more evidence do you need? Do you want all of your games to have MMO style launch problems in the future? They refused refunds too!

let me tell you, simulation wise this is stunning.

That's not the idea I get from multiple reviews (in progress) that I've read. Apparently everything works fine up to 150K or so, and then it either goes into a stupid "People leave, economy goes down, space opens up, people come in, economy goes back up, people get mad, people leave, economy goes down" loop, or it just starts randomly making things not work (casinos completely stop bringing in money; sewage plants stop working altogether), reporting problems that aren't there (You have no water! You have no sewage capacity! when in fact said person has both plenty)...

Feel free to call it whatever you want, but I wouldn't call that "stunning."

I'd call it "broken."

Ok that is true. But I can't judge yet whether that's bug or simply because the online servers lag behind by an hour. (that's whats causing these weird resource lack popups).

That with the firetrucks is annoying, but instead of 1 big.. you can always build 3 small stations ;p Anyhow, I meant the depth of the simulation.. tis true there are still some annoying bugs. But no point mentioning them when nobody can play anyway.

Used to be that you only had to worry about an MMO launch. Seems that curse is spreading. Meanwhile, MMOs have gotten a lot better at it. How ironic.

Considering you can't play right now (all servers busy/down/full and constantly crashing and or even corrupting your entire city save) this is a good idea.

Unbelievable how crappy this launch went down. Though I played for 12 hours and let me tell you, simulation wise this is stunning. But holy crap, EA fucked this launch up so badly its not even funny. Wait a few more days before you even consider trying!

Also, your "save" is SERVER SPECIFIC. You play on EU WEST 2 , your save is there. You play on EU WEST 1 your save is NOT there. So don't jump servers. Stick to 1 server
