BioWare San Francisco Closed?

GamesRadar reports that BioWare San Francisco has been closed, costing 25-30 employees their jobs, saying they learned this through a "source within the company." The social/mobile games studio developed Dragon Age: Legends for Facebook (which eventually became an offline game and the browser-based Mirror's Edge 2D, launched three years ago. As of now, this report remains unconfirmed. Thanks nin via Joystiq.

How can they just say NO to the future like that? I mean at $1 an app, they could make like 10's of thousands of dollars.

Now time to close the rest of Bioware too. That's what EA does.

LOL Never saw that but true!

Some dude on SA did a bunch of those, remind me to dig up the others later as they're all pretty good commentary about how publishers treat their in-house talent these days.

In this case?

This was a mobile studio created by EA and called "BioWare" several years into its existence (more a marketing thing than an actual thing), and some see this as them hurting BioWare?

This wasn't even truly a part of BioWare. It was in name only. And, again, it was a casual studio.

They should keep making Star Wars games to put the final nail in Bioware's coffin.

I've said it 1000 times the last several years, the SW IP is worn and done, don't count on fanboys making it work.

Bioware is doing a good enough job of doing that to themselves anyway, star wars ip or not.

Still find it hilarious that once Bioware started to get some bad press by how botched DA2 was and how shitty ME3's endings were, the good doctors not being used to criticism, tucked their tails and retired.

They were probably working on assets for other games. Mass Effect had a lot of stuff farmed out to their various studios.

Well, if these guys haven't made anything since 2009, it's easy to see why they were closed.

For that matter, why did EA keep them open for so long?
