My system's quite old so poor performance and graphics are to be expected.

What's your video card? I've got some variety of 560 I think (at work right now), and wondered how much it would chug.

Thanks!

It's a Geforce 460 768MB, running on an Intel dual-core i3 4.2Ghz.

WOOT! I'm in! Thank ya!

Just remember guys, alpha. Expect the PC to explode.

Having said that, I haven't come across any problem though some people on the Steam's forums can't even start the game. If it runs you're in for a hell of an experience.

I always tell myself not to buy Arma, it's glitchy as hell and you'll never play it enough to justify it. Then I buy it. Then I find it's glitchy as hell and I don't play it enough to justify it.

Dammit I'm so tempted. I should wait for a demo but that looks awesome and it's a good price. The movement and feel of Arma2 was what killed it for me and apparently that's fixed.

Decisions decisions decisions.

Heh yeah, I am in a similar situation at the moment.

I think I only played a few hours of Arma 2 but I remember that I did play Operation Flashpoint quite for a bit; The campaign until you got your own command (I am not really up to this), after that I played around in the editor.

I am tempted but I am not sure whether I'll still have the time to figure it out. :/

Been playing it. i72600K, 8GB RAM, GTX580. Runs like butter here on an almost Ultra setting.

Also, I've found myself enjoying this alpha quite a lot. Animations are so much better, the radio banter is infinitely better.

I think third time's the charm for Bohemiah. They've got something special here.

On a related note, the price of ArmaIII will increase as the beta and the final release come out. The alpha is pretty much priced at half the price of the full game when it comes out. I can say that if the prospect of ArmaIII interests you to get it right now. When I got ArmAII at release I didn't find it too fun until a dozen patches later. I'm already finding A3 fun despite being an alpha.

And the graphics, holy fuck these graphics.
You've just made the wait for the end of the day at work a lot harder.

No shit. Guess I'll be grabbing it this weekend.

Well, I'm reasonably pleased. The controls are much better - not perfect, but playable. I don't get that weird mouse deceleration issue that rendered Arma2 unplayable.

My system's quite old so poor performance and graphics are to be expected. It's still a disappointment but hey. It needs a good frame rate so IMHO it's worth switch off a few bells and whistles. As much as post-processed antialiasing sucks, it's a lot better than nothing and using the real antialiasing at just 2x kills my performance.

That mouse lag issue drove me nuts till I get used to playing ArmA. Then when I go to play Arma 2 again it re-drives me nuts.

For an Alpha, which to me Bohemia releases Retail products as alpha anyways... it's sounding really good.

Thank god for that sudden DayZ sales upheavel.

Looks fucking gorgeous, perhaps the best graphics on PC right now.

I watched this and I know I will be happy with my purchase.

I frakkin loved OG Flashpoint till Arma2 cept Arma1 with its TOO many technical flubs.

edit: Ah, their website says the 3rd one isn't available until the alpha ends. Goofy, but ok.

It will be available later on today I think.
Their store went offline a few times already and I did see people who had that preordered already.
Here is official word: https://twitter.com/Arma3official/status/309012898301227008
That version of the game is only available on the BIA webstore. If you scroll to the bottom of the page in the link I posted earlier you will see.

Seems to be that the concerns about future Alphas on Steam could be somewhat solved if like Steam itself you had to "Opt in" to allowing Alpha releases to be shown on your store pages.

I think that would work well - if they defaulted it to off - but doubt they would want to hide possible sales right off....

In case anyone missed it, here are the list of the different things you are going to get with the different versions of the game:
http://www.arma3.com/buy
It looks like everyone that preorders the cheapest version of the game will get 3 separate Alpha invites to get friends in.
Also note the modding tools are also released with the Alpha.

So there's three versions, but I only find 2 on steam?

Well, they've been known to slip their expected ship dates just like all developers. I hope it reaches beta sometime in July though, that would be cool.

On a side note you folks should be aware the final game is not scheduled to be released until September 2013. This was stated vaguely in today's trailer video & more specifically awhile back in the BIS forums.
