Hehe couldn't figure out why my frame rate was dog shit, until I realized Vsync was enabled. Now it runs like butter with my GTX570 everything on high and some on Ultra. Game is pretty hardcore, even on regular difficulty the Ai is kicking my ass! I have to figure out that editor and create some missions. Good times
Have you guys seen this, fun with mortar: https://twitter.com/Arma3official/status/310024273114853378

I have a nice new Ivybridge system with lots of ram etc, but Im worried my 'old' HD6870 might be a bit on the low end for this one... If I remember correctly it was around 7-8Gb download Hard to tell if it is video card or cpu hog. There are a ton of options in the graphics menu to tinker around to make it run smooth. If you are unsure wait until the 14th when the Alpha invites will be available and give it a try then. I believe price will go up when the beta arrives. So still plenty of time to decide. |

Also, I've found myself enjoying this alpha quite a lot. Animations are so much better, the radio banter is infinitely better.
I think third time's the charm for Bohemiah. They've got something special here.
On a related note, the price of ArmaIII will increase as the beta and the final release come out. The alpha is pretty much priced at half the price of the full game when it comes out. I can say that if the prospect of ArmaIII interests you to get it right now. When I got ArmAII at release I didn't find it too fun until a dozen patches later. I'm already finding A3 fun despite being an alpha.
And the graphics, holy fuck these graphics. You've just made the wait for the end of the day at work a lot harder.
No shit. Guess I'll be grabbing it this weekend.

They've really improved the movement, especially when in close quarters. If the AI is up to the task you could make some really cool rainbow six type scenarios.
As much as I loved Rainbow Six (Raven Shield was probably the best one but I enjoyed Rogue Spear a bit more) the AI was never one of its strong points. Currently I am on the verge of buying Arma 3 (it would be good to support a PC developer but I am really not sure how much fun I am going to have with it). Someone tip me over! Check youtube for some gameplay videos, or wait until March 14 when the Alpha invites will be available and I am sure one of us will be able to hook you up with one. Start by looking at this video on youtube: http://youtu.be/XxtE8iMbgkc

Looks really awesome so far. I am spending a lot of time in the menu looking at the different keys, and shortcuts. Been a while since I've played Arma. I think the final game is going to be a bomb. It is in Alpha and it is already fun to play. |

You can't switch fire modes without cycling through weapon attachments.
binding keys seems like a never ending battle with Arma games, they really need to streamline some of this stuff.

I live close to work so I ran home, purchased and started download real quick. Can't WAIT to get home now. Been an avid fan of this series the whole way.
Maybe Darks will like ArmA this time around.
For newer ArmA users - Don't forget to keep an eye on the Bohemia forums. The ArmA series is a bit like Elder Scrolls in the terms of there being an avid mod community. User made missions can generally blow away stock game ones. |

I run at 19x10 (native for my display) so that's good. I don't mind turning things down slightly to improve the frame rate.
Plus, it being an alpha, there's always a chance things will be improved as the game shapes up, as well as graphic driver improvements.

My system's quite old so poor performance and graphics are to be expected. What's your video card? I've got some variety of 560 I think (at work right now), and wondered how much it would chug.
Thanks! It's a Geforce 460 768MB, running on an Intel dual-core i3 4.2Ghz.
WOOT! I'm in! Thank ya!
I meant to say, this is at 1920x1200 which is much higher than my system should be powering. That's why pre-processing anti-aliasing kills it. Lowering the rendering resolution makes it butt ugly. |
