TrackMania2 and ShootMania on Steam; TM2 Stadium Open Beta

Ubisoft and Nadeo announce a partnership with Valve to bring all their ManiaPlanet games and services to the Steam platform. Steam news has word on the release of TrackMania² Canyon, preorders of TrackMania² Stadium and ShootMania Storm, and access to the current open beta testing of the latter two games, as Nadeo also announces TrackMania² Stadium has entered Open Beta (thanks Frans). Word is: "Purchase three outstanding titles from the team at Nadeo, TrackMania² Canyon, TrackMania² Stadium, and ShootMania Storm. Purchase TrackMania² Canyon and start playing right away. Pre-Purchase TrackMania² Stadium and/or ShootMania Storm today and receive a 10% discount and extras in the Open Beta that is running for both games." The related ManiaPlanet blog post offers a new TrackMania² Canyon Steam Trailer and a new ShootMania Storm Open Beta Steam Trailer.

If TM uses steamworks to distribute racing maps, this could finally get me to actually play the fucking thing again. Finding good trackmania maps was like pulling teeth. Which is fucking stupid considering that the whole point of the game was it's social aspect.

There were loads more environments, tracks, modes, etc...

This is just desperation as after their smugness early on earned them a giant "Nobody Cares!" anywhere west of the Atlantic Ocean. I know a number of people who passed on TM2 as TM was iffy at best for any kind of casual fun, and there was no way to demo the game other than their offhanded snub saying it was like the first game, just buy it. I'm sorry, didn't buy your first whole package..as all it gave me over the free one was cars. Cars that all in all didn't really feel different enough to separate the experience...so what is the point?(a friend's buyer's remorse taught me that.)
