| Doesn't mean they won't still develop for an inferior console controller and interface. Developing on a platform that makes a game easier port to consoles just means the game is easier to port to consoles. It could still be consolized shit. |

If it just takes advantages of the technical aspects of a PC (Graphics) but still has a gamepad designed gameplay/UI then that's not a PC game to me. It's just a play on words as they'd be able to port everything to the new consoles regardless.
I honestly can't remember the last AAA game that was designed for the PC, a ui that works well with the k/m - instead of text i can read from across the room and click boxes that take up 1/8 of the screen. Shit even the Witcher 2 had a console designed UI - which was absolute garbage (UI, game was great). |

So a PC game HAS to feature quicksave functionality and CAN'T make you use the Esc button? Please. Quicksave fundamentally undermines the difficulty of games and, as a PC gamer through-and-through, I was GLAD to see Far Cry 3 not use it. As for requiring you to constantly press Esc, that was a design flaw - not a console issue - and a patch was released to address that. Far Cry 3 was insanely easy and had an abundant amount of checkpoints, so the lack of quick save didn't really matter. However, the importance of quick save depends largely on the type of game. Playing through Hitman: Absolution without any quicksave or even checkpoints was an exercise in tedium. Any game that encourages experimentation benefits from quick save, as people are more likely to take risks and try new things if they won't lose a significant amount of progress by doing so.

I don't trust a word anyone from UbiSoft says. They've blatantly lied too many times for that. But that doesn't mean they can't earn that trust back.
Far Cry 3 went a long way towards doing that and, if Watch_Dogs can indeed live up to the hype, I'll be back on board.
Long live the PC. |

Acleacius wrote on Feb 27, 2013, 17:09: Or maybe they are just delusional and believe they are a PC developer, instead of just being a PC port developer. You know what? Fuck you. Far Cry 3 was a great PC and if you can't see that then I pity you. I literally pity you. We're not talking about a game like RAGE or Aliens: Colonial Marines that were obviously crippled by their focus on consoles - we're talking about a game that played to the strengths of the platform.
I mean, let's look at some of the PC exclusives we have. Let's look at STALKER. It's interface? Utter shit. The Witcher... shit interface, clunky gameplay. Crysis? Shit performance, fake DX10 requirement and dumbed down gameplay. Where the fuck are these amazing PC-exclusive games that aren't being ruined by consoles? Diablo III? Oh no, that required you to play online and people were annoyed with the real-money auction house. Just because a game isn't exactly how YOU want it to be doesn't mean it's dumbed down for consoles. Sometimes bad design decisions are just that - bad design decisions.
I don't like consoles. I don't own any consoles. I consider them to be inferior to PC in just about every way. But they're not responsible for every issue with PC gaming. Jesus. |

I'm sure the PC will be the lead platform for all next-gen console games... As long as we have a gamepad, motion controllers, and a Kinect-enabled Windows 8 PC with touchscreen, we are all set. |

Sure didn't look like it from the videos with all that taggy and auto-aimy crap that looked like it was made with console controllers in mind. So believe it when I see it club here, too, and only if and when they release the game simultaneously on all platforms and actually patch the PC version post-release until it is stable and bug-free. |
