Some of those are surprising.....esp the first 2.

Darksiders stands as one of two games I ever sold back to Gamestop. 2/3 through the game I quit. I had no interest in the game, the combat was uninspired, and the whole thing just seemed underwhelming.

DS2 I skipped. I heard it was marginally better.

Part of the problem is that when I think "4 horsemen of the apocalypse" I think of... well.. the Apocalypse. Not hundreds or thousands of years post apocalypse in yet another crumbled ruins setting.

If I felt more like I had been wandering through the ruins of humanity, I probably would have been more engaged. Instead within 10 minutes of passing the first level I more or less totally forgot I was on Earth and was War incarnate and just kind of settled into "bland fantasy beat-em-up #347"

Fuck, we need...NEED...to get Homeworld off the market before HE gets it! Since HE couldn't have Freespace, HE'll grab Homeworld and we'll NEVER see a decent one again! C'mon, let's do that community outreaching thing and buy it! No time to lose! Seriously, you guys can go without manga tentacle porn and hoarse armour and WoW for a month or two, right?...Right?

Fuck, anyone wanna go partners on buying Red Faction and SupCom?

I wish I had Curt Schilling money. I'd buy both licenses, give Supcom to Chris Taylor and tell him to make another, and see if I could poach enough Volition guys out from Deep Silver's shitty ass to make another good Red Faction.

If you buy both licenses for, say, 5 million each, and spend 15-20 million building both games, there's no way you don't make out like a bandit on that.

All I have wanted since Homeworld 2 is freaking Homeworld 3. I hate Relic for never making another after THQ finally got the IP back. And I hate all these other companies for just letting the IP sit there and rot.

Like someone else said, it's a real bummer that billions go into making and marketing the same FPS games every year but no one will spare 10mil for Homeworld.

Oh well, there's always Kickstarter I remember there was a Kickstarter thingie trying to acquire the Homeworld IP, not sure what happened with it though.

The problem is that Homeworld 3 will cost $10m and that's almost impossible with kickstarter.

A lot of good IPs there, plus all the ones they already sold off, sure took a dumbass to burn THQ to the ground. Well nobodys mentioned it so I will, somebody needs to do something with Destroy all Humans! the first one was a blast.

In my opinion Red Faction Armageddon is a very underrated game, I enjoyed my multiple play throughs. It is very different than Guerrilla though, something I can not dispute, however I enjoyed both. Of course I didn't buy it on release, because I thought it looked terrible as well, eventually got it on Steam sale, which I am sure did not help the franchise.

I was hoping for a WH40K Gothic game that was in a similar vein to Homeworld. Sadness that it never happened.

Homeworld is the only decent IP left and why they never did anything with it after Homeworld II is beyond me. No wonder they went bankrupt.
I agree and hope that some good company picks it up and makes a decent sequel.

I think part of it might be they want too much for the IP's. I understand wanting to get money out of things... but at the same time i'd rather they just sell the IP for penny's and let someone else try their luck at it.

I really enjoyed Homeworld 2 and would've liked to see more games in the series, but the RTS genre died and doesn't appear to be coming back.

It makes me nauseous to realize that a portion of the money wasted making terrible WoWclones (TOR!) could've resurrected many old series & genres. Dungeon Keeper, Syndicate, Elite, city building games etc. Hopefully kickstarter/greenlight will continue to take the money and terrible decision making away from the mouth-breathers (EA/Bioware, etc).

Dead? No. Just more niche. Sins of Solar Empire did wonderfully well. Total War games still do well. And MOBAs are doing very well. Can't really do a Homeworld MOBA, but you can do a Homeworld 4x or TW/Civ style game if you wanted to.

I think we here at Blues should buy the Darksides franchise. Maybe get a kickstarter going for a Darksiders 3....

Oh who am I kidding? We would spend everyday arguing about what should be done and how....game would would never get finished.

I would happily Kickstart a Red Faction Guerilla 2.

It's quite impressive that they managed to fuck over the Red Faction IP so badly with just ONE GAME that nobody wants to buy it anymore. It takes pretty special talent to do that.

They didn't, some higher up at THQ just assumed it wouldn't sell anymore because one game didn't perform very well. They took the series in a different direction with Guerilla which was surprisingly okay then reversed it immediately after which was a piss off for the newcomers. It was a dumb move but the franchise still has value.

Of course, "special talent" is abundant in publishers. "We have a great series that sells good numbers, and everyone just loved our last game! What should we do? I know, let's make a mediocre Dead Space clone!! KA-CHING KA-CHING BABY!!!"

Morons.
