Out of the Blue

MrsBlue was particularly into watching the Oscars last night, so to compensate her for the thousands of hours of football she's suffered over the years I watched along (in between occasional boredom-inspired power naps). It was nice seeing Christoph Waltz and Quentin win: It's not fair to say those awards were well-deserved, since we didn't see most of the nominees, but it's hard for me to imagine any of the competitors outshined them, and obviously the voters agreed.

Agreeable Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.
Play: Bubble Sky.
Stories: Oscars 2013: best and worst moments from this year's ceremony.
Final Twilight Saga movie gets mauling from Razzies. Thanks Vulture.
Science: Long-lost continent found under the Indian Ocean.
My Adventures With Liquid Chicken.
The SpiderSense suit.
Media: Dog eating contest. I'm usually full after eating one dog, myself.

I was lucky to find my way in to the Summersault 2000 tour in Halifax which feature bands such as A Perfect Circle, Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins. Was absolutely amazing and introduced me to APC and, subsequently, Tool which remains my favorite band.

I would have liked to see SP in their prime, but never had a chance. Would love to see the Foos...

Lucky! I wish I could have seen NIN, Tool, or Radiohead in past or future shows but good luck getting them to go East of Montreal which is roughly 1500 kilometers outside of my comfort zone.

Count me in, good to hear about Christopher Waltz and Quentin.

Argo was just average, especially compared to Silver Linings Playbook. SLP was pretty hard for me to watch though, due to the mental illnesses it portrayed so well.

The only thing that annoyed me about SLP was why did the *Big Move* have to stand out so much. Jennifer Lawrence was very good in SLP, which didn't surprise me after seeing her in Winter's Bone. She's been really down to earth and funny in RL interviews, not to mention gorgeous to look at.

The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same way in any country.

Agreed. Waltz winning was about the only thing I was interested in. He definitely earned it.

He played the same role as in Inglorious Bastterds

Argo was a good movie but nothing special, no idea why it had such buzz, I think it was just the whole chest beating rah rah stuff.

I wasn't sold on Jennifer Lawrence until Silver Linings Playbook, great movie. The Sessions was pretty good too.

Silver Linings playbook is the best movie Ive seen all year. (Saw it yesterday) Argo pales in comparison.

Really great movie and I usually hate the romantic sloppy stuff.

I'm eagerly waiting on that one from netflix. Don't think it's still playing here, but it looked good...

You soldiered through nearly four hours of Seth MacFarlane?

I would have curled up in the fetal position and die within minutes.
