Right, and I'd rather they try, as I'd like something more distinct as opposed to 'Look how much we're like gears of war now,' which seems to be the design philosophy that was embraced with ME. But as the title says its a new era, pretending that Bioware was the same company they were a decade ago would obviously be a mistake. I still find it lamentable though.

Edit - I'd also say balance isn't everything. Diablo 3 is very well balanced, but as the previous games indicate, balance doesn't make it a better game. (though it's important)

iD (historically) also makes excellent multiplayer games that are well balanced... Even if its a shooter though, that doesn't mean that when it comes to all the other elements in a single player game people come to expect, that they wouldn't totally flounder (ala Rage!)

Obviously there is no treack record like there is with iD, but just a comination of all the factors don't give me high hopes.

Well, You may have enjoyed it, but ME3 MP didn't really do anything for me.

That's obviously fine, and understandable, but it doesn't take away from the fact that it was really well-designed. (other than a series of stupid bugs they are unable to fix.)

So while the studio in question made something you didn't particularly enjoy, they did a good job in making that section of the game. That's why I'm not too worried about it. Had the MP just been a slapdash piece of shit thrown together to please EA, I would have shared your worry, but it's a very good piece of the game. (again, which wasn't to everyone's liking.)

It tells me it will be very much like ME3 ...and appeal more towards to shooter crowd, but that's been a gradual trend with the series so it's not terribly surprising.

Yeah ME4 is undoubtedly going to be basically a shooter with a sci-fi story. But none of the series so far has really done well with the RPG elements, so they really might as well just throw them away altogether rather than keep trying to shoehorn them in, and then do so poorly.

So The people who made ME3 multiplayer are in charge of making the new Mass Effect game? That almost tells me everything I need to know.

What exactly does it tell you? To me it says the next ME has a chance to be pretty damn awesome, because the MP is far more fun to play than the SP.

The MP team understood how to make fun classes, and that the fast-paced nature of ME3 required far more enemies to really make it work.

Well, You may have enjoyed it, but ME3 MP didn't really do anything for me. I'm not trying to laud ME3's single player, either.
It tells me it will be very much like ME3 - However I don't think classes in single-player were an issue - and probably include a further downplaying of RPG mechanics, and appeal more towards to shooter crowd, but that's been a gradual trend with the series so it's not terribly surprising.
I guess in retrospect ME3 in general makes me pretty unenthused about the next one, so no reason to highlight the multi-player. I'm willing to check it out, I'm just not holding out much hope.

Not to mention visuals are the least of biowares problems in it's recent games (ME3, TOR, DA2, etc). They need to seriously get their priorities in order.

They apparently just genuinely have no clue. People hated Dragon Age 2? It must be because it wasn't pretty enough! Add bigger swords and even bigger blood explosions!!!

Also, either this dude had an EA lackey there with a gun to his head, or he's blind or something.

What is it like working at a huge games company like BioWare?

They're really humble

Humble? Bioware? The "Dragon Age 2 was great, and people who don't like it just went in with wrong expectations!" Bioware? The "We are proud of our Artistic Vision in how we fucked up our universe!" Bioware? HUMBLE???? Sigh

But how long ago did NWN come out, and please name 1 other engine that has anywhere near the level of modability/editing that NWN 1 had?

Right all Bioware games since NWN's have had miniscule levels with load after load. Kills immersion, even their MMO is made up of tiny maps and load... load... load... load... load...

I am not talking about nothing more than that, so how NWN can be modded isn't on my point anyway, I'll throw out E.S.'s though.

Frosbite is like a reinvention of the company, think of 10 years of being stuck in tiny level hell.

Frostbite to me is the best news to come out in Bioware since BG days. NWN sucked enough because of how tiny the area loads were.
