Yeah it sucks and all but at the same time it was inevitable. On the plus side, all the pre-RB3 DLC is still 50% off.

They also keep teasing new artists who have never been featured. I'm really hoping they've got a major coup for the finale like Pink Floyd as opposed to something from one of the developer's friend's cousin's band.

That's the way they're spinning it, yes. :p

On the one hand, I'm sad to see the DLC stop flowing. On the other, I realize I haven't bought any in months... It's just not been very good for the past 1-2 years, for the most part. Rare gems like 8 Ozzy singles (as opposed to cheaply licensed deep cuts that usually pad their larger artist packs) more Foo Fighters or half of Soundgarden's Greatest Hits album aren't enough to make up for what the other 40 crappy weeks of the year does to their bottom line.

And in my case, I've found much more enjoyment with Rocksmith and playing the actual songs on a real guitar. Harmonix has proven time and again that they just can't be bothered to seriously support Pro mode. Always picking the most mundane songs for upgrades because they're the easiest to chart, etc. The writing has been on the wall in that regard since they put out a Paul McCartney & Wings pack around 2 years ago, and chose Let Me Roll It to get the upgrade over goddamn Band on the Run... Seriously, that one little stupid-simple lick is NOT that fun to play, over and over and over.

Still, they do have so many danged songs already out there, that anyone who is so inclined can still spend hundreds or thousands of dollars continuing to expand their library.

That's not really bad news, is it? No other game has had interoperable DLC, working in multiple games, that ran every week for five years straight. I'd call it the end of a success story, really.
