Cancelled Aliens RPG Animations

This trailer offers footage of animations created for Aliens Crucible, Obsidian's cancelled Aliens RPG that was un development for a while under the working title of, yes, Aliens RPG. The clip was posted about a month ago by Danny Garnett to show off his work on the project, and discovered by DSOGaming (thanks OXM). The clip shows walk and attack animations for several Xenomorphs, including a queen alien and a dog alien, as well as a scene showing some environmental physics and some motion capture for human soldiers.

You're welcome to say whatever you want, of course. Know that I will tend to block users who I believe are not offering value, but injury.

Poor poor randy...he's so sensitive!

I wish they wouldn't do stuff like this. "Here's some cool stuff from a game that you'll never get to play". I mean, I can understand wanting to show off your work, since people aren't otherwise going to see it, but it's really disappointing to see stuff like this and know it's for something that'll never get released.

This isn't showing off what you can't have from a faceless company. Considering the artist posted a Demo Reel around the same time as this clip it seems far more like a freelancer advertising the quality of his work now that NDAs have expired. It's way less 'look at this cool stuff from a game -you'll- never play' and more of 'look at this cool stuff I made, can -I- get a job now so I can buy groceries again?'

Games more popular than Aliens right now (via http://store.steampowered.com/stats ) :

Current players
3,071 - Aliens: Colonial Marines
4,351 - APB Reloaded (ah-hahahaha!)

/snicker

APB is actually quite awesome. It's the closest thing to GTA online, and it pulls it off pretty well! Anyone that hasn't tried it should. It's free!

Oh, and it probably is better than Colonial Marines.

I just would have expected a AAA game launched a week ago to do better. But thankfully it's not!

It warms my heart knowing a tiny little indie game is beating in popularity a big budget "AAA" game despite having the advantage of a popular movie franchise and a multi-million dollar marketing campaign.

How many FTLs could have been produced with the cost of one A:CM commercial? Think about that.

Because it's an, wait for it, AWESOME game! FTL is my GOTY of 2012 with Legend of Grimrock a close second.

6,163 - Terraria (another good indie showing)
8,145 - Torchlight II
21,108 - Garry's Mod
43,468 - Counter-Strike (original)
44,815 - The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
57,542 - Football Manager 2013

Go FTL!

Mount & Blade is also up there. Borderlands has 5 times the players.

I had no clue the rebooted APB was so popular. 4,000 concurrent users. Who? Is it internationally popular, or is it US popular?

A proper Aliens RPG ala Mass Effect would be.. pretty damn epic. Sadly, with the idiots at Sega at the helm we can expect this franchise to be dead.

Yeah, an ME style action RPG set in the Aliens universe would be pretty badass.

Well... since I have no interest in the Borderlands games... and they fucked up Duke (which was semi-understandable) and this game... I can honestly say that I'll never buy a Gearbox game.

I guess Opposing Force and Blue-shift will remain the only games I ever got from them.

After reading everything, half of which is probably true, i'm siding with the big bad publisher SEGA. I think they just wanted their game that they paid for and were very gracious about giving more time to a company that had no interest in delivering a worthwhile product (gearbox), especially since said product would directly compete with their leading IP.

Consoles? I owned two: a Pong clone and an Atari 2600. And that's it.

In big, aspirational games glitches like that are kind of endearing.

This game was neither big nor aspirational.

I'm sure Gearbox is fine with all these 'leaked' stories, conveniently throws TimeGate under the bus.
