The Pro is ideal for my uses. I have a laptop, thanks work. I have a desktop. If I'm doing my computer work at home it's either something somewhat serious, in which I'm on my desktop, or it's something on the couch, in which case I use my worthless TouchPad. The TouchPad sucks, the desktop can't be used on my couch, nor can the laptop as well and its power management is frustrating (it doesn't wake nearly as quickly as my TouchPad, which does so instantly.)

So a Pro is ideal, especially for travel when I really just need something to browse the internet and maybe occasionally do a spreadsheet or presentation - in which case I just throw a USB mouse and keyboard in my luggage. But I'll wait for the Haswell versions.

Anyone really surprised? They probably didn't produce many, I don't know a single person in my personal life who has one of these or a Windows phone. Hell I can't even say I know someone who knows someone who does. Microsoft is really stuck between markets with their confusing product differentiation and niche hardware that doesn't lend itself well to anyone. I've used a Surface Pro and I'd rather have a laptop, hell my laptop gets comparable battery life even. It's just a mess to do anything, the form factor doesn't lend itself well to much.

"Microsoft Surface sells out!" Surprised

They just finished cutting the manufacturer order in half so not surprised they sold out.

"They just finished" = 4 months ago.
Plus that was the RT. This is the Pro. Microsoft sadly made that confusing, but you spend enough time on this site to know the difference.

The limit is clearly supply, not demand, but this is still great news for Microsoft. Wouldn't expect it to last, but still great news.

I'd comment on iOS 6.1 and overheating/battery drain... but I have a 4th-gen iPod Touch... that thing overheats if you so much as look at it wrong anyway.

I really like my Surface RT.

I also really like the Surface Pro that work purchased.

They're both excellent bridge devices.
