At any rate Obama's SOTU address ought to be entertaining tonight, I fully expect him to ask for another stimulus (maybe he can blow another few billion on some more failed green energy companies that go under before the ink on the stimulus bill goes dry) and ignore that unemployment numbers are higher than when he took office, meanwhile trumpeting all his successes. And by successes he really means he has no idea what he's doing aside from driving us closer to bankruptcy.

Your complaints about green also make you an idiot.
1) OF COURSE some failed. Even the best venture capital and PE firms back companies that fail
2) China is rapidly surpassing us in green technology. We already import all our finished electronics from there, do you want the next wave of power to not only be manufactured there but also developed?

Why yes, yes you do. Why do you hate America? It's because you're a communist, right? You want China to win because you're a communist.

And yes, Obama is a shitty president. No one here really ever throws much praise to him. You're the one CONSTANTLY mentioning him. CONSTANTLY. You can't go a day without doing so. No one else does. But you, man, you're so fucking enamored with him that it's borderline obsessive.

You're aware that nearly half the green companies he gave tax payer money to went under right? I have nothing against alternative energy and lessoning our dependency on oil, but this guy isn't the guy to get it done.

No Beamer I'm not enamored with him, I'm just tired of reading your posts which all sound like they were cut and pasted from the DNC playbook, but you're not a liberal.

I'm tired of the media giving the guy a living pass. Benghazi? swept under the rug, unemployment? Barely mentioned. Blaming congress? Mentioned every 30 seconds.

You lefties all went on for 8 years and 4 of Obama's first term about how the GOP, Bush, and republicans are evil and are the reason we've had such a bad recession yada yada yada. You have political pundits on the left like Bill Maher repeatedly make comments like the one I quoted you earlier, just hateful ridiculous comments.

Yet here we are 5 years later and the start of Obama's second term, and for all the spending and debt adding he's done we have zero to show for it except for a bloated health care bill that will cost US citizens more for health care, and to top it off, was passed without anyone reading the damn thing.

aka anything you don't agree with is trolling. Democrats, the party of tolerance.

Fact of the matter is the things people were so upset that Bush did, Obama either extended or made worse. Funny that none of those people who were so upset about the patriot act under Bush, don't seem to care that Obama not only extended it, but made it possible to target American citizens with no due process.

He also extended the Bush tax cuts originally as well as used Bush's time table for withdrawal from Iraq and Afghanistan.

You have no idea what "tolerance" means.
It's always fantastic when people fail that comprehension. It's often from racists, too. "I hate black people, why can't you tolerate that!?" Well, usually racists don't even get that they're racist, so it's more "I think black people aren't special and commit crimes, but I'm not racist, why don't you tolerate me?!"

Also a strong overlap with people that don't know what Freedom of Speech is.

Yep all conservatives are racist, or was it all republicans? Oh I remember, it was "Not all republicans are racist but if you're racist you're probably a republican." Thing is conservatives don't care what color your skin is, if you're capable of working and contributing to society like everyone else is, do it and lets all move the fuck on already.

It's generally democrats that need to treat skin color like a condition. It's for me hard to take serious at this point because the left plays the race card so often anyway.

You are such a strawman arguer.
When did I say all conservatives are racist? I didn't even say all conservatives fail reading comprehension, or all people that fail reading comprehension are conservatives.

I said that you suck at understanding what words mean, and usually those that don't think they are racist hide behind "tolerance." Jesus. Fuck. You do this all the time.
Me: Racists often have no clue what "tolerance" is when they mention it
You: How can you call all conservatives racist!?
Me: Wait, when did I use the terms "all" or "conservative?" When did I ever even imply that connection?

Also, you idiot, racism is so institutionalized that to go colorblind is basically making the problem worse. You're a child when it comes to discussions about race. Seriously, you spew the same crap a college kid would. Stuff that shows you have zero ability for critical thought or looking beyond your own shoes.

"Contributing to society." I would guess plenty of people on food stamps contribute far, far, far more than someone like you does.

I thought we were past the racism conversation. That wasn't even the topic of the post you originally quoted, yet here's beamer again stuck on strawmen, personal attacks and alluding to racism.

I pay my taxes, I work 40-50 hours a week, I contribute just fine sweetheart. I've also watched my health insurance go up twice over the last year and Obamacare isn't even fully in effect yet. It'll be great to pay even more once that happens.

Tell me Beamer, if we've been so much better off under Obama, why is unemployment higher than when he took office in 09? Why do those on the left who blamed Bush for everything under the sun even when congress was firmly in democrats control the last couple years of his term, now blaming congress and STILL blaming Bush while Obama gets off scott free? When does this guy actually get held accountable for being the worse US President since Carter and quite possibly the worst president this country has ever had?

I guess you aren't too big on data or facts. When Republicans held the presidency and had control of congress, rights of citizens were lessened and rights of corporations expanded while deficits and spending went off the charts. Under Democratic presidencies and congressional control the deficits have either been, recently, dramatically lessened or produced the staggering effect of a surplus of funds.

I would suggest you dial back on the FOX News agitprops.

As for the most ludicrous 'turn US into Greece' meme certain ideologues try to mainstream (see, proper use of quotes!), I am not sure anyone with a minor grasp of economics other than those of Strauss would even bother listening to it. As a matter of fact, doing what conservatives currently suggest would take the US economy on a fast track towards what Greece IS rather than growing the overall economy.

If you want to see how austerity cannot only stop but damage an economy's recovery, all you need do is look at what is happening to European nations that decided to stop investing in their commonwealths and cut, cut, cut. I feel sorry for England- talk about shooting yourself in the face- err foot. A country with no debt, a world leading currency rate, bodies jumping to lend money at next to zero interest, and rather than invest and stimulate their economy they cut hard.

Or you can learn from history, back when Roosevelt listened to Republicans in 1937 in the recovery from the Great Depression where he decided to acquiesce to austerity measures, greatly stunting what was record breaking growth until removing them.

Boom goes the dynamite.

the patriot act, which Obama expanded actually. I doubt Bush had the idea of drones patrolling US skies, but Obama took care of that. As for the economy there are more unemployed people now, then when Obama first took office in 2009. So much for that hope and change Disney land feel good story huh?

Barry got all the tax increases he wanted, he's still not managed to cut anything that will make a difference in regards to our debt. All while growing government.

The Great Depression would have been half as long if the Government had let the market correct itself, but as usual big government had to meddle and prolong it.

IMO neither the guns or games are the real cause, but the violent fascist society we've become. Insanity induced violence is everywhere in one form or another. Banning either one won't make much of a difference, and could make it worse.

While that's the evidence-based conclusion (that video games don't cause violence), and while I prefer Dems to the alternative, it's important to note that Nancy represents CA's 12th district which contains no shortage of software developers. So there is certainly a bit of political self-interest in her statements. Still, this is a cold, hard fact:

"but the evidence -- says that, in Japan, for example, they have the most violent games and the lowest death -- mortality -- from guns."

And Thundr makes a great point: they need to keep eyes on the prize and focus on what's going to have the biggest impact. Spending capital on video game laws will have no effect.

Also too: Mag wins the internet.
