Oh right, because putting him away for 50 years was quite reasonable. I could understand the philosophy of "Do the crime and do the time" as long as the crime and punishment are comparable.

Really? I kind of thought it was the fact that he was well known for his depression, committed a crime, and didn't want to deal with the consequences of it. He's not the first guy to do that and he certainly won't be the last. Nothing heroic about it.
