Borderlands 2 Racism Discussion

Kotaku has a running summary of an discussion taking place over twitter over whether the Tiny Tina character in Borderlands 2 is racist, based on the white character's use of clichéd African-American slang. Some have expressed the opinion that this is "verbal blackface," and after originally resisting, lead writer Anthony Burch moved on to try to expand the discussion to see if he needed to re-work the character's dialog in future releases. Randy Pitchford's take on this is that it's not racist as long as it was not written by a racist: "@reverendanthony tina is not racist because you are not racist. You're a pillar of tolerance and inclusion." Thanks nin.

Except it does because you never see republicans waving around the PC card. And people do go overboard over racism, ALL the fucking time.
Every little thing said tends to be misconstrued as racism these days and it's complete bullshit.

Again, that's because social conservatives don't tend to even try not to be assholes. They do the same shit, just over slightly different things.

Unless you think conservatives don't get offended over insignificant/made-up things?

Oh they do, they also have a habit of saying ridiculous things as well, but overall at least when it comes to misuse of political correctness, 9 out of 10 times it stems from the left.

Liberals will be offended at anything and everything.

Tiny Tina is the first character that I have had tears flowing down my face in laughter at in a video game. She is irreverent, crass and politically incorrect.. in the body of a sweet little girl. It works. Get over it.

Fixed that for you. Because really, conservatives don't tend to buy into PC. That's pretty much a liberal soapbox.

Oh yeah, it's just us liberals who get offended at anything and everything. That's why I'm so deeply upset about this, and why you can't ever find anyone on Fox News being offended at anything.

It's not really trolling if it's true. Conservatives generally don't buy into the PC bandwagon. And conservatives also don't go looking for racism in things like superbowl tv commercials of all things.

Lets be honest here, offending a liberal and getting their panties into a twist isn't exactly difficult.

As I said before, political correctness is supposed to be about not being an asshole and you've got a point - conservatives tend not to buy into that.

It's got nothing to do with liberal or conservative. The only slight difference is what some people get offended over and if I'm going to be labelled in one camp or the other, I'd rather be associated with the sort of idiot who goes overboard over racism (an actually bad thing) than a televised nipple.

I found his comment to be deeply offensive. In this day and age it's wrong - it's not politically correct - to mimic the mentally handicapable for his own amusement.

Duke Nukem: Shove it up your ass!!

Political Correctness is the other side of the coin of ultraorthodox religious dogma. Its neoliberal propaganda bullshit. I say this as someone who considers himself very liberal.

If anything, I'd find Tiny Tina's use of the lingo to be complimentary.
