If you pretend that Mafia 2 isn't an open-world game, you'll probably enjoy it more. The city is basically just there to set the mood.

Also, Mafia 2 is a Steamworks game so it doesn't matter where you buy it, it will still require Steam.

If you don't have any of them, I'd recommend Just Cause 2 and RF:Guerilla over Mafia II.

Mafia II is not a bad game, it just builds this really awesome city for you to be in, and then lets you do... absolutely nothing with or in it.

The story and shooting bits are pretty good though.

I've never seen it selling for $5. Lowest price I think I saw was around $8.

Really? It's been a daily deal several times on Steam, which is when I grabbed it one time a year or two ago. I'm sure it's been discounted during the larger sales events, also.

Gamefly is also selling RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 Platinum at 75% off: http://www.gamefly.com/Download-RollerCoaster-Tycoon-3-Platinum/153955/

Get it while it lasts. That game is never on sale.

Use the code 1GFD0113 at checkout to save an extra 10%.

Page says it's a steam key. And yeah, very enjoyable game.

If you don't have Mafia II I would recommend it at that price. Steam would be better, but either way it is a pretty solid sub $8 pickup.

I got it for free with a video card a while back, I didn't expect much. It ended up being a really fun game.

EDIT: But don't get the DLC. It is all ruined by a terrible 'timer for everything' system..
