Creston Frankfurt does Crysis (and possibly Ryse.) UK, which used to be Free Radical, does Homefront Kiev does Warface (and is probably fairly cheap) Budapest did Crysis Warhead and is also likely cheap. Istanbul, also cheap, opened this month. Shanghai, also cheap, opened in August.
This leaves Sofia and Seoul. Sofia was Black Seas Games. Maybe Seoul did their iOS game, but I didn't look closely enough to tell. |

It's even more funny if you think about the fact that their first successful game was created with pirated software |

The CryEngine is a great engine for that kind of thing.. one of the only engines with a real WYSIWYG editor for every single element. And while other engines (Frostbite 2) might be superior in certain technological areas, making entirely from scratch maps for Frostbite 2 is apparently a huge team effort. Where as in CryEngine you can solo it.
But I wonder too how they can afford 9 studios. I haven't got a single clue what games besides Crysis they make... |

| IIRC the CryEngine is, for some reason, extremely popular in non-gaming 3D modeling applications. Mostly overseas, I imagine, but that must be very lucrative for them. Especially since it really doesn't take that much extra effort beyond what they're doing to iterate on Crysis or whatever game they're doing. |

Compare and contrast the financial impact and re-establishment of human assets in THQ's sale to the recent implosion of Curt Schilling's studio in R.I.
Congratulations Vigil Games, Crytek and Austin, TX. (for supporting so many studios over time). I look forward to your forthcoming products. |
