New Wildman Video; Tiers

A sixth update to the Kickstarter for Wildman offers a fourth video about Gas Powered Games' proposed action/RPG, discussing "how to fit an RTS into an action-RPG." The update also features some dinosaur concept art from the game, as well as details on new $5 and $10 support tiers, filling an odd niche for people who want to support the game without the promise of actually playing the release version. Thanks Seiya.

I'm surprised by how well Kickstarters are doing in general. I didn't expect many to get funded after Double Fine's ridiculously successful one, I thought that was a one off.

You're not in touch with the hardcore gaming community much, I've been playing videogames for 20 years and many of us oldsters who grew up on PC games in the 90's have just despised the lack of game quality of the last 10 years.

Everything has been dumbed down to chimp level. The real issue is game dev costs push publishers to consoles and then water down their games for the masses.

This left those who grew up on more complex PC games starved for games based on excellent gameplay and not giant movies and quick time events many modern games have become.

It'll be a tight one at best - what % of a Kickstarter's funds typically come in the last couple of days?
It depends on the game. Sometimes you get something like Star Citizen that becomes a complete blow-out. But for most games that make it, it seems like 25% of the project goal is the best they can hope for in the final couple of days.

Star citizen had a complete blow out for a reason, every space game fan on the internet has been dying for a real space-combat game in the line of Freespace 2, freelancer / Wing commander, Xwing/tiefighter.

We been starving for a decade, thats why everyone went crazy

This is going to be the end of Gas Powered Games. As sad as it is, I just can't support a game that I'm not going to play, ever. Why they took such a risk and came up with an entirely new concept no gamer has heard of before is beyond me. I'd have supported a SupCom 3 Kickstarter or even the mentioned Homeworld idea - just give me something I'm confident you could pull off. Sad!

Same.

But he would have to completely swear off and apologize for SupCom2, at the same time, for me.

I do still wish them the best though : )

Seeing the actual though process was encouraging. Not only that, but the concept seems more solid than than their previous "blah blah blah, give us money!" videos.

The concept is like a mix of Hinterland and Age of Empires, two games I thoroughly enjoyed.

I totally agree on the Homeworld thing, too. A perfect fit in a lot of ways. Minus the whole they are broke and about to go under bit. And a few other bits. But, yeah, that would be sweet. =)

@lightassassin: I agree more dinosaur would have piqed my interest in this game more.
I still support it but I agree.

@Adam: SupCom + Homeworld? I would buy that day one.

Playing SC:FA again. So good. I really hope Kings and Castles comes out some day. Maybe someone will die and leave CT with 50m$.

If Gas Powered Games was still a viable company with extra cash on hand, I would have loved for them to pick up the Homeworld license from THQ. They have shown they can do RTS on a massive scale successfully with Supreme Commander. Homeworld with a Supreme Commander flair would be nerdgasmic!

Somebody mentioned he reads things, I'm not interested in the game from a gameplay pov.

However, from a marketing perspective he really should play up the dinosaur part. That concept looks cool and should be shown as a reach goal to have a playable dinosaur humanoid character.

People love dinosaurs and they sell.

Would love to see them succeed just because of his previous games.

They can still, there's enough time. Just need to get the word out with more news coverage, and compelling updates.

The dinosaur concept art is badass imo.

I can't see why anyone would be in that odd niche. It's not like giving to charity, I want to get more than a warm feeling inside if it's a for-profit enterprise.

Yeah, I doubt it as well. It seems to have really stalled at the $300k mark and is only barely trickling in. I was excited for this game and did pledge enough to get a copy, but it might be for the best at this point if it doesn't make it.
