I'd say JJ Abrams is probably actually the best choice of whats available. He is strong precisely where the prequels were weak: they took themselves too seriously and forgot about the whole 'fun space adventure' aspect. I do suspect he'll probably try to take it too far in that direction though.
They couldn't possible be worse than the prequels. George Lucas isn't even a bad director, he's just not any kind of a director |
