Forbes - Fun with Reductio ad Absurdum, the NRA and Video Games.
Is it because the media is a corruptible influence? Here’s a hint. It’s because we love real life guns so much as a society that violent shooter games are so popular. A society that is inherently fascinated with violence creates violent media, it’s not the other way around. And say what you will about this debate, but a kid playing a video game where he shoots a gun is safer than a kid who is shooting an actual gun, even just at inanimate objects. Compare a kid playing Call of Duty five hours a day to one who goes to the shooting range for the same duration. Which one might be better at hitting real world targets? Adam Lanza was a crack shot, and it’s more than a little bit likely it was from his time spent with his mom on the shooting range than it was from his hours spent playing Starcraft.

Voting and supporting the Iraq invasion then turning around and condemning it for an election primary is fairly blatant. Forbes put out a decent and relatively fair opinion piece. Kudos.

Anybody who has any clue about video games saw that NRA speech for what it was, pure bullshit. To have any credibility at all he would have had to mention Call of Duty... but that sounds way too patriotic doesnt it, not to mention the fact that like the article points out its perfectly inline with the NRAs point of view. Nope couldnt do that, had to dig up the worst 'sounding' games they could find, and in the process made themselves look like the liars they are... well at least to anyone with a clue.

Also, don't confuse Forbes with Fox. Forbes is conservative and pro finance, but the are also fairly reality based.

It's all a trick. Once behind closed doors they put on their Star Trek mirror universe style evil beards and resume their plotting (while stroking said beards). Currently on the agenda is a bill to authorize an experiment for seniors to be isolated and studied so that it can be determined what nutrients they have that might be extracted for our personal use. It will be a rider attached to a bill originally designed to prevent elder abuse, purely for the delicious irony.

Well if the Halkan Council won't give us the dilithium crystals as told then they deserve everything that's coming to them!
