Look at the charges against Aaron Swartz for what the actual actions were. The reason the charges are being posthumously dropped because they know it was a gigantic overreach and they were just going for a show-trial for both lobbyists and the public. Prosecutors, lobbyists and certain politicians want this to go away, quickly.
To this day, no one has been prosecuted for crashing the world economy with bad debt and mortgage trading schemes. Most of the actors involved are multi-billion dollar corporations.
A guy making a political statement with little to no access to resources gets 13 felony charges (some completely irrelevant to his actual actions) against him for what is traditionally misdemeanor offenses. Nothing like an informed post to make me smile |

Wow, logic prevails:
Researchers who participated in Vice President Joe Biden's conference on video games on Friday say that Biden declared himself an "agnostic" when it comes to the belief that video games lead to violence, while suggesting that the country could nonetheless benefit from more research into the subject.

Best comment on the subject...
Mental torture? Are you kidding me ? Having depression does not award you a "get out of prosecution free" card. Might as well charge the friends and family who knew he was suicidal -- it was on his damn blog! -- for not getting him the help he needed. That's only slightly less ridiculous than your over-the-top idea. The guy had serious issues, blaming a prosecutor for doing their job is ridiculous. The guy broke the law, period. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time. |

| Six strikes "could" affect businesses, but in reality, it won't affect any that are big enough to fight back. Selective enforcement is the name of the game. |
