I am still looking forwards to this but only in the way I was looking forwards to AvP 2010 - hopeful but expecting to be disappointed.

Considering this was originally supposed to be a PS1 title way back in the day, I'm kinda interested to see how it turns out, given the development hell this particular game has gone through.

Where is the PC love letter for this game, Borderlands 2 had one but I'm not going to assume that Gearbox will put forth the same effort with this game unless it's mentioned somewhere. FOV adjustments? Graphic settings? Mouse driven interface?
This is what concerns me. Gearbox was upfront about the PC version of BL2, yet there has been almost no discussion about the technical details of ACM. In fact Randy Pitchford has talked more about the Wii U version than the PC version, with the special motion sensor interface for the tablet-controller - in fact he's been gushing praise like a cheap whore.

Oh, and I hate bonus weapons for pre-ordering. They did it for BL2 - as well as the loot bonus - and it was just as shitty then. Pre-order bonuses should be cosmetic vanity items.

I was guessing The Witcher 2?

Ah, you're probably right.

Are they still going with only 3rd person view for the Aliens in multiplayer? What other dumb game design decisions have been made? No ability to jump or crouch?

I suspect this will be an extremely short single player campaign and supplemented with co-op multiplayer.

Regardless of which tech they're using for the game graphics, I've been unimpressed with the graphics in the trailers so far. The upside to that is that it looks like it might run easily on lower spec'd machines.

Hopefully gameplay is awesome, and the story is logical and cohesive.

ACM supports DX11 but won't use any DX11 features, like tessellation. For all intents and purposes it's not a DX11 game. From a technical perspective it's a backwards step from the recent AVP game, especially as all the media features low polygon models and environments as well as low resolution textures. I'm hopeful that the gameplay will make up for it but at the moment it looks like I'll wait to pick this up on sale.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that ACM will be a decent PC port. That's in stark contrast to other non-DX11 games like Dishonored and Borderlands 2, which both had media and interviews talking about how the PC version was receiving special treatment. That makes me very sceptical, especially with the development history.

DX11 isn't essential but it is a warning sign and there have been many other warning signs.

Theyarecomingforyou has corrected my bad eengrish and posted a "politically correct" version of what I said.

Of course, I don't give a fuck about being "politically correct" in the first place, so that may have something to do with it.

What? Technically speaking that looks like utter shit!
Unfortunately I agree, though my only hope is that they are simply showing off the console footage. A lot of the Far Cry 3 trailers looked pretty shit as well but that game turned out to be great, though the PC credentials were hyped from the start (and FC2 was a very good PC port, with DX10 support).

What? Technically speaking that looks like utter shit! Now, having said that, I don't really care as I'm sucker for anything related to Aliens. I just think that even NS2 manages to top this thing visually. Still, my only fear is, that this game will be 10h SP with rince & repeat coop and a multi that no one will be playing two months after release.

If that's the case, it is indeed a bargain bin release for me.

Dishonored.

Edit: My point is if there are good exceptions it's a stupid rule. Wait for news on the port and don't make silly snap judgments with no evidence.

No DX11 pretty much makes this "wait for bargain bin"... even if it is good.

Not that I'm a graphics whore, but DX11 has been out too long to ignore it... which makes this most likely a crappy console port, hence bargain bin only.

Totally agree!

Okay, letís totally agree to disagree! You guys kill me sometimes with the way some of you think. Why donít we break out the tissue while we are at it.
