A Valley Without Wind 2 Presale Deal

Steam now offers presales of A Valley Without Wind 2, the upcoming platformer sequel. Those who purchase the game prior to its release in February will get immediate access to the beta version, and will also receive a free copy of the original A Valley Without Wind. If this all doesn't provide enough incentive, the game is currently on sale for 60% off the regular price.

I just read this and wow... what a non-answer. I really liked the first one (for the first ten hours or so) but reading this bullshit and how he dances around the question without providing an actual answer is astounding.

And they know they messed up because otherwise they would not try to stifle all discussion about the mouse. This game basically just died for me.
If these are the kind of design decision they like to make then I don't wanna play their games anymore.

Seems pretty straightforward to me. They intend to sell this one on consoles. The number of people using a gamepad on PC is tiny I imagine compared to mouse & keyboard, so by focusing on gamepad only gameplay, the only thing I can surmise is that they're aiming for a console release.

I like how they say "If you want to use the mouse, go play the first game". Yeah... the game that was so borked and broken they publicly apologized and promised to give us the new game for free if we bought the first one.

Why anyone would make a game like this a 2D side scroller is beyond me.

You can no longer pick and choose spells, you get stuck with a spec (entropy etc). You have keys for aim up/aim down (angle shots) basically pushing you to use a controller. The world/townbuilding bit is pretty much nothing like the original either.

That really explains a lot. I thought the mouse was just buggy. I kept wondering why I couldn't aim at shit. I think I got about 5 minutes in before I moved on. Also, the new and improved graphics look just as shitty as the first game.

And the sequel is shit, mouse control has been removed so as to not disadvantage controller players...

Wait seriously?

Bloody hell... I wonder if this version is even going to be playable. The first one was an experience in ass. That it sold enough to fund a second version is a testament to the idea that even indie games can survive on over-hype.

In short, I played it for about 10 minutes then stopped, wasn't worth wasting time on.
