The War Z Trademark Issue

To go along with issues that caused sales of The War Z on Steam to be suspended comes word that the trademark application for the zombie game is in doubt. A thread on the War Z forums discusses this matter, and while executive producer Sergey Titov accurately points out that the trademark for the game is still listed as "live" by the USPTO, his offhand dismissal of this all as false is not accurate either, as a blog titled WarZscam (a frank admission they have an agenda) has step-by-step instructions on how to locate the suspension notice sent to The War Z dated November 15th. The conflict seems straightforward: The letter references prior registrations for World War Z, saying action on the application for The War Z "is suspended until the earlier-filed referenced application(s) is either registered or abandoned." The indication is that if the registration for World War Z is granted, the registration for The War Z will be refused. Thanks LightAssassin).

Well I didn't mean to cause a storm of authenticity arguments. I just reposted an image from another forum.

I'd love to hear the story behind it, if you still have the link. Thanks!

Wow, that's pretty unbelievable.

... because replacing text within a white box in photoshop is unbelievable?

I'm not saying Hammerpoint is a class act but come on, or has Titov crossed the line and gone full-on Paul Christoforo?

I certainly hope it's real. And that everyone hears about it.

Considering the type of company we're talking about it's a very strong possibility that it is indeed real.

You can still get a refund.

If you paid for it through Paypal you can file a claim (I have a friend who has done this, and got a refund, apparently their company is fairly well known at Paypal at this point)

Same thing with a Credit Card, file some sort of claim where you didn't receive the product as advertised etc.

Or you could do this

From what I've heard xSolla knows them very well at this point and just does the refunds.

Never actually bought the game myself. Even though I had never played Day Z when I heard of it just looking at their "Game" and the fact that it looked like mediocrity compared to a mod was enough to turn me away. I ended up playing Day Z about a week ago finally and now I love it. So if you're interested, the winter sale is a good time to pick up Arma 2 for cheap.

Wow, that's pretty unbelievable. I would go on a crusade and submit it to every kind of gaming-related news site and see how many are willing to continue driving this game in to the dirt.

My guess is a lot.

This could all be advioded if only the USA and the USSR had gone to nuclear war - I bet this would not have happened.

Yes, we'd all be playing Fallout by now - the real life RPG!

Duke Nukem Forever would be hailed as the best game ever...since it was never released.

This is what happens when you have amateurs running the show: drama. Amusing, but ultimately destructive.

Jeez.. this rabbit hole keeps going deeper and deeper. It's kind of fun watching the show unfold though as more info come out. With any luck others will learn from what these idiots have done and the game industry will improve a little, atleast as far as ethics go.

Why is this news, the guy is an obvious nutcase, with no respect for anything, even his own game.. He has been hacking in his own game since the launch of it... Spawning stuff for his friends and whatnot. I mean if it isnt obvious by now to anyone reading this stuff, I guess it explains why our world has become complete shit
