US folks don't realise that people down here pay more for content and wait longer for it to be released than the US. Back a few decades it would've made sense when things needed to be moved physically since OZ is far, far away.
Nowadays there is no reason why hardware or software should be 'delayed' or priced with a premium on top in Australia. Of course there's a reason: Because they can!
You see, they sell shit for cheap in China, so they have to recoup those losses somewhere. That somewhere being, well... I think they pick at random.
Government blessed monopolies. Ain't it grand?

You go government! That will show those evil investment bankers not to cheat! A 5 million dollar fine on a deal they made 200+ million dollars on will REALLY teach them!

No doubt. They seem to get screwed on steam prices all the time.

If all he did was steal the pics he probably wouldn't have gotten 10 years. Just saying, he didn't just hack their phones and whack off to some pics. He hacked their phones, stole their pics and info, and then broadcast it across the net. Ten years is just fine. |

Key quote from the article:
Dalby is clear – the industry’s problems are being driven by the mechanics of their own business model. If piracy is to be reduced then work has to be done to bring timely and reasonably-priced content to online consumers. iiNet, he says, is still happy to work with the industry to make that happen. |

iiNet, the ISP that was sued by Hollywood after refusing to help chase down alleged infringers, said that it can’t make any progress with righthsolders if they don’t make their content freely available at a reasonable price. The ISP adds that holding extra data on customers’ habits is inappropriate and not their responsibility. Whoa, I love these guys!
