I've said this here a dozen times - not having a Facebook profile is detrimental to job hunting. Going as far as to say it means you're a mass murderer is nuts, but it means you're more likely to be an antisocial weirdo, or at the very least it makes it harder to confirm that someone seems like a decent hire.
Every recruiter will look you up in Facebook before contacting you. If they don't like what they see they will not contact you. If they see nothing but, for the other 8,000 equally qualified resumes in their hands they see something they like, they'll contact them over you. The push back I always get to this is "blah blah that can't be true they look at qualifications" as if there aren't a billion people out there qualified for nearly any open position, and as if you can tell from a single sheet of paper if one is more qualified than another. They're all qualified.
It's not as bad as not using LinkedIn even though that's become how the external recruiting is done. |

Don't worry about being spied on.
Worry about pissing off the wrong person. That's what it comes down to. |

Scary shit, your constitution is being trampled in the interest of "National Security". Whatever that fucking means.
George Orwell predicted this shit but he got it wrong. He believed that a communist totalitarian state would implement it, and here we are. The most democratic state in the world is doing it and NO ONE gives two shits. George W. Bush started it, Obama built upon it and down the spiral it goes. Its only a matter of time before the system becomes so well organized and powerful that they come looking for all who dont conform.
Why the american public isnt burning cars and rioting in the streets is what is scairest of all. Im afraid for the future of my unborn children. |

While it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this whistleblowers claims are true, do keep in mind who's doing the reporting here: Russia Today, which is to Putin's Kremlin as Fox News is to the GOP. |

| I have just assumed that was the case ever since hearing about Carnivore almost a decade or so ago. Do I think that's legal? No. Is there anything I can do about it? Donate to EFF and ACLU, but that's about it. |
