If you're just in it for the XP, then maybe it's not that much more rewarding, but then I don't know why you'd play this game at all. I played four hours solo and four hours in a squad and both ended up at the same level. I found solo to be more rewarding so far, both in terms of experience points and of gameplay experiences.
Frankly I've done the squad leader thing and I know what to look for so I can position myself accordingly (in the thick of it with my heavy or flanking/supporting with my infiltrator). And with a majority of players (I have played with) in PS2 not communicating, zerging, and the way benefits are awarded, I currently find solo to be better. |

Join up with the Devil Dogs on Connery. We normally have 200-400 people online at once in our outfit.
Out platoons have 48 members each and we have and airwing, armor division and special operations.

| Yeah, I don't believe it shows their location on the map if you're looking at other continents. Insert or Instant Action will deploy you over to their continent, though. |

Hmm I didn't see any of that, I had the 'squad' button checked on the map guide and never saw any icons for them. It wont work if your on a different planet? I tried all 3 and never saw a way to spawn on him or near them (not knowing where they were) of course they were dicks and didn't tell me either...
Thanks for the help! |

Insert will (or rather, is supposed to) spawn you on your Squad Leader. You can only use it once every few minutes. If Insert doesn't work, go to the map and click the Squad Leader button at the bottom-left to Instant Action onto them (again, once every few minutes at max).
Most of the time, once you're on the same continent as the rest of your squad, you just spawn at the spawn point closest your squad leader. This might be a squad spawn beacon, if they put one down. Whatever the closest spawn point to your squad leader is gets colored green in the redeploy screen. Once deployed, squad members show on your HUD and map with green icons. |

Plus your XP goes up much faster I disagree. I found squad-based play to be more rewarding in PS1, but in PS2 I do equally well (if not better now) when I solo. The way the XP currently is means all you have to do is show up in an attack, kill things, and be there when the cap goes through. I've yet to see any real benefits to being in a squad in PS2. |

Just sitting on top of a mountain looking down on a raging battle is quite a sight. Knowing all of those tanks, aircraft, machine gun blasts going off are other players going at it is impressive.
My one concern is lasting appeal. You win hard fought battles, take territory, take over huge parts of the map, and within an hour it can all be gone. So it leaves me a little empty in that respect. So then the long term appeal comes back to you fine tuning your character and finding a great group to play with. So we'll see how it all turns out.
Give it a shot! Even if you're an old, slow, feeble gamer like I am, there's fun to be had. the single most important thing you need to remember in PS2 is that it is a TEAM oriented game. join a squad the second you log in.
