Max Payne 3 Painful Memories DLC Next Week

Rockstar Games announces a December 4th release date for the Painful Memories DLC for Max Payne 3, the third-person shooter sequel. This is a delay, as this was expected last month, but the setback goes unaddressed. Here's word:

Inspired by the grisly shootouts from Max’s past, the Painful Memories Pack will bring four new maps and much more to Max Payne 3 Multiplayer this December.

Revisit the subway bloodbath from the original Max Payne in the Roscoe Street Subway map. Flashback to the dingy Hoboken watering hole at Marty’s Bar, open fire on the posh Branco family yacht in Shoot First and wage Gang Wars at Canal De Panamá. The Painful Memories Pack also includes the IMG 5.56 and UAR-21 assault rifles, new avatars, items and the Hangover Burst, which causes enemies to respawn with blurred vision, reduced stamina and health.

Check out the first screens from this pack below, which will be available on December 4th for 800 Microsoft Points on Xbox LIVE and $9.99 on PlayStation Network and PC (Rockstar Pass owners will receive this content at no additional charge).

We're also making the new shoot out at the Roscoe Street Subway station artwork above available as desktops and avatars at rockstargames.com/downloads, along with a pair of original illustrations from the Hostage Negotiation Pack featuring the Filhos De Ogum wielding the IA2 Assault Rifle and other weaponry as they attempt to dominate the Estádio Do Galatians and O Palácio Strip Club multiplayer maps.

bah. How about fixing the freezup between chapters during the cutscenes? I cant get to chapter 3 after the rooftop.....sucks.
Not sure how badly you want to continue, but you could always try the crack. Just make damn sure your in Offline mode and back up the files you replace. So once you get past your bug, you can return your game to normal Steam.

If that's too much trouble, you could try reinstalling.

Good luck.

The cutscenes were grossly excessive and those that were pre-rendered were of such pathetically low quality that I actually thought the game was broken when I first played it. When you play at 2560x1600 and maxed out graphics and you're thrown into a cutscene at 1280x720 (if that - I'm really not sure) with low quality settings and no anti-aliasing then you REALLY notice the change. That and the gameplay gets a bit tedious at points.

I'll get around to completing it at some point but the reviews were overly generous. The Metacritic user score tells you the real story.

Meh, I didn't mind the cut scenes. I liked Max's narrative for the most part. If you're not into what he's saying and what is happening in the story/max's past then I can see how the cut scenes can be a nuisance.

I played through single-player and just beat this 2 days ago. It was fun - the cover system didn't bother me.

I experienced a hang during a cut scene. I left it there and took my daughter to school - when I returned it had progressed. Just FYI.

It is sad, however, that they only release MP DLC. I wouldn't want to play MP3 against others.

Damn I'm too lazy to write anything more than that I seem to disagree with everyone on this game.

I liked the story and thought it was plenty Max Payne.
And thought the gameplay/gunplay was pretty damn good.

The cutscenes were certainly too often but I did like their content. I also actually liked being plopped right into the action or even bullet time following one. The only other minor complaint I can think was the weapon juggling and other stuff that sometimes went on but it wasn't too bad and often fit with the cutscene.

Played multi for 5 minutes... nope, don't care.

edit: Oh I guess I did have the will for some sentences.

Yea, no biggie. Tried everything in the forums - even window mode. Lame. Ill give it a bit and maybe an update will fix it. Not a big deal, have so much to play anyway. And honestly, I am not really into it. I don't like the style this time around.

Yeah, they dropped the ball when they added a completely unnecessary cover system into the mix. Max Payne has always been about shooting acrobatics, not biding your time hiding behind a waist-high wall. The mistake I made was trying to play it the way I played the first and second ones. It is a really good game, but they messed with the formula and screwed it it up in the process.

Yea, I have died a ton. I was also playing it the old way, and now realized you HAVE TO USE COVER ALL THE TIME. It sucks - of course I am also playing on HARD.

I had that problem too. Sadly it's been too long for me to remember how or why it started working again. Sorry bud.

More multiplayer shit... I was one of those that bought only the base game during the sale (was #1 top seller at the time), not the Complete Pack (which was #8).

Yeah, I really couldn't be any less interested in Max Payne multiplayer than I am. It always has been and always will be a singleplayer game as far as I am concerned.

Someone must be buying these mappacks though; they keep making them.
