Diablo III Hotfixes

The Diablo III Website reveals new hotfixes applied to Blizzard's action/RPG sequel as of yesterday. This includes two bug fixes:

  • Monsters will no longer spawn with 10%-15% of their health missing
  • Players who pre-purchase the Heart of the Swarm Digital Deluxe Edition will now properly receive the Blade Wings digital item on both Normal and Hardcore characters

They went with Random Events, because random maps was too hard for them.

With all the money they rake in, it's pretty pathetic seeing the state this game is in.

I've been playing again recently and they've done a lot since the comically disastrous launch period. Classes have more than a few builds that are effective. Monster Power lets you up the challenge level. Inferno is no longer untested absurdity.

Game still has issues though:

- Yellow is the new blue. You get tons of rares but as usual most of them are trash. The ratio of potentially useful drops to overall drops is still bad. I have no idea how they keep fucking this up, it shouldn't take a month of grinding to find an upgrade at max level.

- Not enough sets and uniques. How is this still an issue? MAKE A LOT OF THEM. I had my first uniques and sets at level 10 in Diablo 2. I want to be drowning in good items to make compelling choices from, not waiting for a diamond in a pile of pigshit.

- Random events and physics traps are still terrible. The traps are entirely worthless and dev time should never have been wasted on them. There aren't enough random events in the game and the few that exist are oddly dispersed through the game.

Once they fix the two biggest bugs I will play it again. They are: 1. make it playable without the internet and 2. Give me loot drops I can use (the same level I am, at least) without using the auction hall.

Ah, but those are *features*, not bugs!

I thought the missing health was nice in that it gave the tiniest hint that there were things that went on in the game that didn't revolve around your character. A shred of depth.

I guess it was just a bug.

Seems like a hard one to miss if they did any testing.
