No BioShock Infinite Multiplayer

Ken Levine's Twitter feed reveals that BioShock Infinite will not include any form of multiplayer support. The designer expressed skepticism early on about the inclusion of multiplayer in Irrational's shooter sequel, though a recent job posting seemed to indicate it would indeed be part of the game. Now in a series of responses to questions about multiplayer support, he puts several nails in the coffin for this prospect, saying: Nope, No Multi, No MP in Infinite to being badgered about the prospect, leading to an exasperated retweet: "Thank sweet baby Jesus no multi ---That's exactly the reason we don't have it. My statement wasn't clear, but that's why I referenced "this isn't 1998 anymore". I never once felt the urge to play SS2 on multiplayer, even though it was available.

I don't know what Ken means by "that kid is persistent," but he is NOT the one who said "thank sweet baby jesus no multi." That's a quote from someone else, just like he's quoting questions from people in the other tweets... So the exact reason they don't have multiplayer he's referring to, is all the people who DON'T want it.

Sounds good to me. This is looking like it's going to be a fun and unique SP experience, so the more they polish that up, the better.

Exactly, agreed.. SP games do not need MP, mp games do not need SP

I wish we could finally buy games in modules as well (obviously where each module is like a fraction of the full price ,p), especially MP games with crap SP campaign tacked on. Or SP games with crap MP...

Why no one does this yet...

Multiplayer would have been a waste of resources, as it wouldn't stand a chance against dedicated multiplayer games. Let's just hope they get the singleplayer right, as this game is starting to become a bit of a development disaster with all the delays and staff quitting.

Based on what I've seen so far it looks like it will be enjoyable but only worth picking up when it goes on sale - the gameplay looks very dated, especially after games like Dishonored, Borderlands 2 and Far Cry 3. It's on my "maybe, if it gets good reviews" list.

It isn't 1998. Thinking you have to tack on deathmatch to every first person shooter is archaic at this point. Focus on making a great single player campaign. People who want to play an online shoot-em-up, have plenty of other options.

No MP is fine with me, it doesn't really fit the universe very well IMHO.

People in hell was ice water too doesn't mean they will get it. Not every game needs multiplayer. Plus the game has enough issues without needing to separate resources to work on 2 versions.

How many Bioshock fans WANT multiplayer? They went all-out on Bioshock 2's MP, and like five guys and a donkey ever played that.

Not shoehorning MP into Infinite is a smart decision.

Good news, never thought it would work on consoles very well anyway.  
The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.That is easy.All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger.It works the same way in any country.

The customer isn't always right, and sometimes you really want your developer to focus on quality rather than "smart business decisions."

If multiplayer could be included but wouldn't really fit, would be half-assed by nature of the game mechanics, and would take resources away from crafting a better single player experience, why would you want it? Customers usually do, anyway, then when it comes out they ignore it because it isn't very good compared to the other big games at the moment. If you can't do better than Natural Selection, CounterStrike, Halo 4 or Black Ops 2 then why bother?
