No one said its the second coming of Thief or something.

It has been getting a lot of bukkake love around here.

And it had tons of hype. Not Call of Duty, but Bethesda gave it a lot of time in the spotlight regardless.

That game had no hype, people just liked it because it's a good game that few people would describe as stale, shallow or ugly. No one said its the second coming of Thief or something.

Ugh, done with this.

Can anyone please explain to me what's so good about that stale, ugly, shallow game Dishonored?!

Is everyone infected by the hype-virus or am I missing the diamond on the shitpile?

Mirror's was $7 during a flash sale last night

Ah, I didn't realize that. Even then, it's been on sale cheaper than that before (I got it for five bucks quite awhile back.)

Mirror's Edge is somehow on the #13 sales spot, at a sale price of 10 bucks. That HAS to be because there was a recent announcement that they're working on a sequel? It's been on sale for cheaper than that a few times and never got back into the top 20.

If I'm right, it's interesting to see how many people will pick up an earlier game when a sequel is announced.

Also, DA:O is back at 18.

Dishonored has been the #1 selling game on Steam for the last 24 hours, basically for as long as it has been 50% off there. Underneath the flash sales is the top 20 sellers list, and it seems to be updated hourly. This doesn't count all of the other digital service sales like Greenmangaming and Gamefly, or retail, but it seems reasonable to think that it is selling at least as well in those places also.

What we really need is a top 10 games being played on Steam list. I have a feeling all the keys bought at GMG would change up that list a bit.
The data was posted in reply, but here's the link:
http://store.steampowered.com/stats/
Anytime you want to know what games are being played by how many on steam (which if its a steamworks game is ALL copies of that game), how many total ppl are online with steam at that moment (6 million peak today), the content server stats, or hardware survey, just click that link

Good link, I had no idea that was there. There are more people playing garrys mod (17th!) than so many other games!

Let me modify what I was trying to ask.
A way to see how many player of newly released games or in some sort of comparison to the Steam Top 10.
Aside from steamworks games (already explained by the reply under this one), there used to be websites that tracked the multiplayer numbers from master servers. Dunno if any of those are still around.

As well, GfWL tracks player numbers for games that use it.

And there's individual game trackers. I imagine that one could find out CoD player numbers, or BF3 player numbers, etc.

There's no global stat tracker of number of players playing all games if thats what you are looking for.

Well, Dishonored is a Steamworks game, so no matter where you buy it, it activates there, and the gameplay stats are tracked. The public stats previously linked aren't perfect, as they show only concurrent players and not the total, but they do give you a pretty good comparison as to a game's popularity compared to that of others.

Being a single-player game with relatively little replay value, Dishonored was at its peak the day it came out, and is now a bit below 1/4 of its all-time record (which was about 20k, barely putting it on the top 10 IIRC). Of course, the numbers this week take into account a resurgence of players brought on by massive discount and new sales, so even that is a bit of a peak lately...

For comparison, Assassin's Creed 3, which is not a Steamworks game, and so the stats don't reflect that entire playerbase, peaked this weekend at about 15k.

Example I'd like to a way to see numbers of say Dishonored, that is having great sales but not just on Steam.

Yes there are, about 6000 players in average per day.

Blood Bowl: Non DRM Edition - $15. Think it'll go lower? My guts says no, and I'm tempted to lock in.

The real question is how long before they re-release the game with a few new teams added. I think they've already released three versions of Blood Bowl so far.
