Wow thanks. Someday I'll play Knights of the Old Republic 2 all the way through.
A quick check, and here's a good list of restored content:

I bought Rage... for $5...

Not sure when I'll get to it, and I know just about nothing about the game, so for $5, I expect to be pleasantly surprised... Sometime this year (maybe), though quite likely post winter-sale...

There's probably utilities that help you tweak your settings now but that's my rageConfig.cfg file, it goes in Steam\steamapps\common\rage\base folder. Helped make the game look much better for me using a 1gig 285gtx nvidia card.

Honestly, for $5, even if you only play it for an hour or two, it's not a total loss, right?

I have it also but never got around to installing it.

While it's true that other distribution services have better deals on specific games, the Steam sales have the best overall deals on a wide range of games. For example, I don't think I've ever seen RAGE for $5 anywhere. Also, the current Steam sale is offering 50% off most indie games that never get discounted elsewhere, like Unmechanical, Mark of the Ninja, Deadlight, etc.

Just what is so good about steam's sales ?
Not much.
Amazon has many of the titles that steam has for much, much cheaper.
Like they recently had Prototype 1, 2 & DLC for $8. Steam's "sale" for prototype 2 is $20. (And yes, most games are steamable)

Is the site to check for who has best sales.

I had no idea so much had been cut out. TBH Im only playing it for more HK47. Easily my fav NPC in gaming (beats boo and minsc!)

I don't think I got very far in it (though I completed the original) so I'm due for a replay, also. Trying to sandwich it in somewhere should be interesting...

CHECK YOUR WISHLISTS! Seems there's plenty more stuff on sale than what you're seeing on the main page. Witcher 2 - $12, Game of Thrones RPG - $18 (still gonna wait till 10 on that one). I'ma grab Gods and Kings from GMG for $10 (still have that $10 credit from Xcom) and I'm gonna get Krater too.
Actually, check them on last day of sale. Only buy daily/flash until last day, then check the normal sales. Otherwise a lot of that stuff will be lower on daily/flash sales

Dammit, Krater CE is on for $6.79 which comes with the DLC and Soundtrack. Check out the soundtrack on Youtube. Most tracks are pretty nice. The main theme is very Bladerunneresque.

Dammit! I was all ready to pass on that one...

edit: On sale until the 27th...gonna wait on that one, but the soundtrack def sounds good.

After playing for a few hours now it's easily worth the $5 as an ARPG.

I picked up the DLC during the last sale, but I have yet to play it. I haven't done much of any MP in a while, but I'm up for some.

Yep, BAC and the DLC is worth it. You may want to hold off for a few weeks for the Xmas sale as it'll probably all be on for less.

Well, according to the laws of the Universe, if I buy it now, it'll be on sale for like 5 bucks in December. If I don't buy it, it'll be on sale for 10% off or something.

I'll hold off, have entirely too much stuff to play as it is.

I also bought Choplifter HD during the summer sale, and although not impmressed. I think that if you went back and played original (I did recently) the game is a hell of a lot more fun in your memory than in real life - so the new one is actually pretty darn good.

Nothing on sale that I am looking to get.....
