Death Rally Free Weekend

A free weekend for Death Rally is now underway on Steam, offering the chance to test drive Remedy Entertainments game of road rage, which is on sale for half-off for the duration of the event. Here's the pitch to see if this game catches your interest:

Load your guns, start your engines...THE CLASSIC IS BACK! Brought to you from Remedy, renowned developers of Max Payne and Alan Wake, Remedy's Death Rally classic top down racer is back, stronger and more vicious than ever.

This is no Sunday Drive. This is Death Rally, so be prepared to be blown away, literally. Make a run for the finish line with a trail of burnt rubber and spent brass behind you..along with the flaming wreckage of any fool dumb enough to get in your way.

The gameplay is addictive, intense, explosive fun! Win races, upgrade your cars and weapons to defeat incredible boss drivers to beat the story mode. Join the multiplayer! lock and load and enter the Death Rally, humiliate and destroy your opponents or sabotage their race. You choose how you win, NO TRICK IS TOO DIRTY!

I liked the original, anyone tried the remake?

Why not just try it? It's free for the weekend.
Dang it! I missed it since I was three days behind with BN.

Ok I did, I enjoyed it for what it is. I think I'll get it.

Edit: Front page says $5, but game page and actual purchase price was $3.49

Good ole valve.

"Ivan 'Ironman' Stewart's Super Off Road". Man alive but the rubberbanding in that game made me angry.

Thats the one! I used to play that all the time at a $1 movie theater in Maryland =)

A couple other racing games I remember enjoying in the arcade that had similar perspectives were "World Rally - Championship", "OverTop", "Drift Out '94", and there was one other, I think it was a truck racing game in small arenas, mostly figure 8 tracks.. it was 4 player.. but I cannot seem to remember the name. (which is funny because it's probably the most popular one out of the ones I've mentioned already)

I played it on my Android tablet for two hours or so in bed the other day, and while it's not exactly a super-engrossing experience or anything, it was fun and kept me going with well-dispensed rewards and stuff to aim for.

Pretty much this. It's a good few hours' worth of gameplay, and the price is good for what the game offers. Ultimately you're going to wish there was more to it, but you can't find too much fault at the price it goes for.

Anyone remember Quake Rally? That was one of the first non-fps mods I tried for quake 1, when it was still in beta. Good fun.

Oh wow, totally forgotten about that...
