There are only 3 panel makers out there... Samsung, LG, and Sharp. Sharp bet the farm on large screens, LG went mostly with smaller screens, and Samsung did it all.
I have a 60" Sharp Aquos Quattron, and I actually prefer that 4-color LCD technology to other contrast / color solutions out there. The products are good, but the company has been obviously mis-managed. They are scrambling right now to go to the smaller screens.
They seem pretty ripe for an Apple or even a Microsoft take over. (since MS is getting into producing their own hardware). The last thing we'd want (as consumers) is to lose a 3rd competitor in the panel market. Samsung would pretty much have everyone by the balls, then, since LG isn't that big in the market. |
