Out of the Blue

The wee hours of tonight/tomorrow will mark the end of Daylight Saving Time in these parts, so tomorrow will be a 25 hour day. It getting dark an hour earlier may not be well timed for those in this area still without power, but on the bright side (so to speak) it seems power is being restored in more places all the time, though this is going to be small comfort to those still in the dark.

Awesome - get to work 13 hours instead of 12 tonight.

Anyone see those "State of Decay" videos from Microsoft Studios? Looks like they took the Day Z idea and going to put it on xbox and pc next year. Not sure how I feel about that - was hoping Day Z guys would get their stuff together quickly and more stable.

I've been watching War Z -- I'll probably pick that up.

Yeah, it would be confusing at first. But just think, you could be talking to anyone in the world and set a time for your next call/meeting/whatever and it would be so simple. None of that I'm in this time zone, you are in that time zone, but I'm doing DST, blah, blah. The gains will be well worth the initial weirdness. After a few years you'd wonder why anyone ever did it any other way.

We need to end the cycle. Even better just have everyone use GMT all the time.
That will be confusing like go to work at 2 AM.

I would have to be at work at 14:00

Ok so we gain an hour correct? So instead of say 1am it's midnight?

correct - when the clock hits 3AM, you dial that shit back to 2AM and get to relive that hour again.

Anybody can take the idea and make a game with it... There are plenty that have tried before. There's more to it, that makes DayZ as awesome and popular as it is. And anyway, the standalone version is coming out this month or next. It'll be the alpha version, but it will have so much more added and improved than the mod stands now.
