Gone Gold - Tropico 4 Gold Edition

Kalypso Media announces the completion of development of Tropico 4 Gold Edition, saying the gold Gold version of the management sequel is expected in Stores on November 13th. Here's word:
Tropico 4 Gold Edition is the ultimate city building experience, including: Tropico 4 and the “Modern Times” expansion.

As the president of a tiny Caribbean island, it’s up to you to lead your country to greatness! Will you be a benevolent and tolerant leader, or a power-mad dictator? Will your economy rely on tourism, farming, big business or cheap sweatshops? The decisions you make will shape the future of your island, and more importantly, the size of your off-shore bank account.

  • Become the heroic leader, or a despicable despot as your customized El Presidente avatar makes decisions for the good or ill of the people
  • Two extensive campaigns consisting of more than 30 unique missions including the new “Modern Times” campaign
  • More than 100 buildings in total, including the stock exchange, shopping mall, aqua park, car factories and shuttle launch pad
  • Council of Ministers – Elevate citizens to government positions to help push through your more controversial decisions
  • Sandbox mode for custom games, with improved map and scenario editor for endless replayability

It isnt a city simulator. Its a dictator simulator. In fact half the fun is making your city not work but making your personal bank balance increase.

In sim city you open up your advisor and look at problem areas and fix them. In Tropico you find people who disagree with you and assassinate them, or excommunicate or otherwise make them suffer. Then you burn their shack down for good measure.

I dont believe you could build CD bootlegging plants in sim city either. Or a space program. Or nuclear missiles.

Never argue with an idiot. They will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Wonder why developers waste times with games like this, simcity copies are a dime a dozen? There is a lot more interesting games out there than city simulators.

If you would try the demo or research the game's legacy before posting ignorant comments, we would all be better off ...

I skipped 3 due to problems with the others. Got 4+ modern times on a steam sale and was quite impressed. Far more stable than previous incarnations and has better traffic management. No more concentric non connected road loops needed now! Modern times expansion was silly though, certainly has game breaking buildings (modern condos are plain silly)

I found T4 to be very stable in the post-campaign stages with expansive island developments, unlike T3. I like continuously developing and improving my island in sandbox mode so T4 was a big step up from T3.

Agreed, I thought it was quite a lot more in the spirit of Tropico 1 than 3 was. Haven't touched the expansions, but the base game is a home run.

It was ok, not enough of an upgrade over 3. And they actually downgraded the visuals a bit from 3, never understood that.
