Final Project Eternity Stretch Goal

The Kickstarter Page for Project Eternity announces one final dramatic stretch goal for Obsidian's upcoming RPG if it reaches the $4 million mark, as it currently stands at over $3.7 million with four hours to go (thanks nin). Here's word:

OK! After much team deliberation we have one final ultimate stretch goal. At $4.0m we will be enhancing the whole game. We will use live instrumentation for the soundtrack, add developer in-game commentary, and use every dollar between $3.5m and $4m to enhance the game. Also at $4.0m Chris Avellone will be forced to play Arcanum.

We are streaming live now on Twitch and UStream. We will be playing board games, answering your questions, and having fun!

A big fucking ask indeed!

I know - I'm a horrible person. How could I not want to know the current US>GBP exchange rate in my head. Of course I should instantly be able to convert the two currencies and it's ridiculous of me too want a website to list the price in my local currency.

What were you doing waiting until the last 20 mins to decide if you wanted to back it?

Looked at what was offered based on my perceptions of what the UK/US exchange rate was (based on the last time i visited in 1997) and decided it wasn't worth pursuing

I only want local pricing - is that a big fucking ask?

Seriously?

Google can help you with the pricing. In fact (just like math problems) it shows the answer right at the top of google, you don't have to visit any other sites. Check the links I posted.

What with credit cards making it so you can buy anything online from anywhere and they will automatically convert it, and kickstarter requiring a amazon.com account, its not surprising they don't offer the option to pay in any currency. One can already do that.

Someone just donated $10K! $3.972 with 3 mnts to go!
That must have been the German guy. On twitch.tv stream, there was a guy that said "Hi Obsidian. I'm from Germany and have 10k in my pocket to give. Where is donate link?"

No one answered him, lol. But I guess he found the link.

Soz would have backed it if the $20 reward was still open.
It did. A bunch of spots opened in the $20 range in last few mins. At one point I saw 6 open spots. I think ppl upgraded near the end.

Funnily enough that's the site I used - but with 20 mins to go I totally couldn't be arsed to work out what they wanted in my local currency.

I've got a feeling publishers may be feeling a bit fearful now and that some big name developers are probably now starting to have their own ideas about going solo. Great times for the industry ahead.

Argue. This is the myspace/facebook/twitter of game development. Looks great on the surface but unless a Kickstarter funded game beats an elder scrolls/cod/mw etc at retail this is a VERY niche market.

Hmm, I don't know why you say that.. $25 is at least half of what it'll cost when released. Also, there were a few $20 spots that opened up towards the end.

Turns out the difference was 12 to 15 pounds. Maybe kickstarter should start localising currency.

It really does! Something beautiful and amazing happened here, and I'm thrilled to both see it, and be apart of it.

73,970 Backers, $3,986,423 total. Congrats guys, we are now (a small) part of gaming history, when a big developer house said screw it and started an epic game with only the help of gamers.

Y'all notice another person picked the $10k tier? Also the additional $5k tiers filled up to name an inn or tavern.

Edit: I see y'all did notice! It ended sooo close to $4mil!
