Out of the Blue

Thanks to Quboid for noticing that the hidden counter at the bottom of this page surpassed the 666,666,666 mark, meaning the site has had over two-thirds of a billion visits since 1996. This makes me recall looking at that counter years ago when it passed the 36,000 mark and being shocked because I never imagined it would get to that point (so you can imagine my current level of disbelief). Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for the support over all these years.

R.I.P.: Centrist Sen. Specter died fighting for moderation.

Loads of Links: Thanks Ant and Acleacius.

Links: A Space Shuttle on the Streets of Los Angeles. Thanks nin.

Stories: Softball-sized eyeball washes up on Florida beach. Thanks brother19.
Law Students Charged With Decapitating Exotic Bird at Vegas Casino. Infuriating.

Batstache.
Master Chef Cosplay.
Media: Amazing Video of the Supersonic Space Jump.
Auction: Moon rocks, chunks of Mars auctioned in New York.
The Funnies: Skyrim Afterlife.
Follow-up: Skydiver breaks speed of sound after jumping from edge of space.

You only have to open the user profile to notice just how long Blues has been kicking around for since it still has a spot to put your ICQ name.

Here's to Blue! I probably would have been promoted at work twice by now if I wasn't always wasting my time visiting the site to see what's new and read the latest comments. So thanks for that, Blue.

On a totally different note...does anyone else find Joe Buck of Fox Sports, to be one of the most irritating people on TV? First I had to listen to him through the NYG/SF game, then I had to listen to him through the Giants/Cardinals game. Something about him just puts me off.

Dude, there are websites out there dedicated solely to hating on Joe Buck. Yeah, he irritates a hell of a lot of people. He definitely should be doing something else. At least the "Boom goes the dynamite" guy said something funny once.

Apparently we missed the biggest piece of news on that jump yesterday!

What is even funnier is that MSNBC wasn't the only network to make that mistake. Funny or sad...tough call...

Blue it should be us that's thanking you. Day after day, month after month, year after year you have provided us with a haven to celebrate PC Gaming (we won't talk about how you can 3 man Rock Band on the Xbox), a place to voice our opinions, and a website that hasn't had to reinvent itself every few years.
From being single, to you getting married, to moving to the suburbs, to you kids, to the death of a helpless kitchen appliance, your stuck with us (nin may require a court order to remove), and we wouldn't have it any other way.

Here's to the next 666,666,666 visitors!

That would have made a fine toast had I had any champagne left. A shot of Jack will have to do. Bottoms up! Cheers

Watching Felix's jump was fantastic. It gave me an urge for crazy videos on the weekend so I went digging and found some old helmet POV videos of 2 guys trying to climb Annapurna in the winter and some video of the 2008 K2 incident.

I finally watched it a few minutes ago -- amazing stuff. There's a 'chest-cam' video out there that's insane -- I can't believe he made it out of that spin -- I got dizzy just watching it.

Yep, definitely IPO time. I am cashing out my 401k and taking out a second mortgage to invest in it. I would suggest that in order to make sure the stock isn't undervalued that you set the initial price per share at $400. Then this will be a sure thing!

Oh, so THAT'S where Facebook and Zynga went wrong! They set their price way too low!

As you pointed out the other day, the length of time you've been on the web is downright impressive.

Right, it's time for a Blue's IPO! That's always good for businesses, right?!
