Wow, the weatherman didn't lie, as it's pretty chilly out there, so I've decided I will totally celebrate by making some chili. I mentioned to MrsBlue that the news that the international chili cook-off was permitting beans for the first time had me contemplating making a chili that included some of the stuff I never use, like beans, tomatoes, and onions. She just looked back at me and said "no." At least I don't have to worry that she's tired of the way I make it.

Above 10000 is "Ninja", and above 20000 is "Jedi", but no one knows what above 30000 is or if Blue even has a designation for it yet since no one has reached that plateau. If not, may I suggest naming it in honor of the member who will undoubtedly be the first to get there? I think it should be "nin-JA". HAHAHAHA - see what I did there?

The no beans thing is crazy. Put some tomatoes and beans in there. It's so stupid. I love the chili recipe but I definitely add beans and either tomatoes or some tomato paste.

Why would you WANT beans in chili? It's filler. It adds nothing beyond increasing chili yield/keeping production cost down. If you absolutely have to have a massive amount of cheap chili, sure, use beans.

Beside the health benefits, I agree, it's not chili without beans. However that does remind me of a scene between Willie Nelson and Rip Torn in Another Pair of Aces where they're eating chili around the fire and Willie mentions - as they're in Texas - that he hears that northerners put beans in their chili and Rip Torn replies that he believes he would have to kill the man that put beans in his chili.
