No Terraforming in SimCity

An article on Rock, Paper, Shotgun breaks down some footage of a live presentation that includes a look at SimCity, EA Maxis' upcoming installment in the classic urban planning series. They take note of a couple of things the new game will not include, starting with terraforming, as word is the landscapes are regarded as puzzles where figuring out how to suit your construction to the terrain is part of the challenge. They also note that while the game will include boat transports, but will eliminate subways. Thanks Joao.

I'd love to play a new SimCity but it's not going to happen if it's online only and especially not with forced multiplayer.

I have a bad feeling about this, but I'm hoping for the best. I love the series, but what can the team really accomplish without Will Wright? Time to find out.

So, no modtools, always online, a lot of multiplayer content, tons of DLC, no terraforming, limited 2km x 2km size for cities.

It's as if they're trying to make us not buy this shit! Well, they're succeeding. The more I hear about this the more I'm convinced it has almost nothing in common with the past titles of the series. I smell a Diablo3 all over again, overhyped piece of crap that gets bought too much and ends up being the disappointment of the year.

I am looking forward to this game but Sim City 4 had ALOT of issues, mainly with the AI commuter routing that only mods would fix.

Regardless I love Sim City and can't wait for this. Elimination of subways is odd, but I never used them since they were so expensive.
