What I agreed with was being tired of the whole attitude that if you don't embrace the whole gay acceptance political agenda you're automatically labeled a bigot.

Yup -- the whole bigot thing is getting old. It is possible to not agree and still not be a bigot. I think some folks need to look up the definition of bigot before posting.

What's there to not agree with?
I don't think anyone can deny that RailWizard is, given the whole fetish thing.
For the others, you've brought this discussion to nearly 200 posts. That's a pretty strong "not agree" with something wholly innocuous. Some posts are bringing in "they should be able to do this, but I don't agree with them being so different," which is just a weird thing. Who else do you rant about being different?

Obviously any group can do what they want, my question was is there really a need for it? It's one thing to want to congregate with those with the same interests, I get that, but do we really need a gay gamers convention complete with news posts on gaming sites to promote it? It kinda reeks of the whole thing I've been saying this entire thread. That community has such this strong desire to throw their orientation in people's faces constantly saying accept us accept us! Yet in the same breath they attack conservatives and play the race/bigot card on a constant basis.

At least that's been my observations anytime you read a forum or site that caters to that demographic. Preach tolerance and acceptance and bash the fuck outta anything or anyone conservative. It's pot meets kettle in it's truest form.

I get the hate for the church given their views on the topic, I don't get the hate for conservatives in general though. Hell the world would be so far better off without religion in the first place to be honest.

But it isn't really necessary for you to repeatedly say you find it unnecessary. Dozens of posts dedicated to it. Dozens. Why bother? You don't think it's necessary. Fine. Don't go. Don't pay attention. This is the top thread on Blues, in part because you can't stop talking about how unimportant you think it is.

Secondly, yes, bash the fuck out of anyone that is intolerant. You're begging for tolerance for intolerance. Of course no one is going to tolerate that.

You're somehow saying that gay people wanting to be accepted for being born, and for being perfectly normal, is equatable to people that choose not to accept them wanting to be accepted for not accepting them.
Someone is choosing to be intolerant to how someone is born. That's not the same as someone being intolerant of someone not tolerating how they are born.

Again, it's very strange that you think gay people wanting to be accepted as equals is the same thing as people that don't accept them as equals wanting that to be accepted...

Yes Beamer, I kept this thread going single handedly, sorry bout oh yeah I'm so intolerant, mmm hmm. Care to tell me some more exactly what type of person I am Ye oh so knowing politically correct little douchenozzle?

wahh wahh wahh the poor gays/blacks/insert whatever minority the democrats are pining for this week. it's ok though, they have their white knight beamer on the job.

So I'm not allowed to say you're intolerant, but you can call me a politically correct douchenozzle?

Minorities aren't a leftist catchphrase, there are plenty of black/gay Republicans, many of whom attend conventions and stand up for their right to be recognized as equal peers in society.

Agreed, and here it is:

Bigotry is the state of mind of a bigot, defined by Merriam-Webster as "a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially: one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance".[1] Bigotry may be based on real or perceived characteristics, including age, disability, dissension from popular opinions, economic status, ethnicity, gender identity, language, nationality, personal habits, political alignment, race, region, religious or spiritual belief, sex, species, or sexual orientation. Bigotry is sometimes developed into an ideology or world view.

And there you have it. You can't argue with facts or logic but some are so blinded by their hate that they try. It's sad.

In general, I don't disagree completely with you, but one of the things that I find some conservatives - and I'm not saying you here - seem to believe is that being tolerant means you need to be tolerant of other people's intolerance. We don't need to be tolerant of racism, we don't need to be tolerant of sexism, etc. And some conservatives approach the situation that way - and yes, they tend to be religious.

I get the hate for the church given their views on the topic, I don't get the hate for conservatives in general though.

I think it's a case of some conservatives giving the rest a bad name. Or, perhaps, that conservatives have some really bad spokespeople - especially in the US. One only need look at the likes of Glenn Beck or Ann Coulter, for example.

Hell the world would be so far better off without religion in the first place to be honest.

You can get unqualified agreement from me on that one.

So you're saying adding an additional point or comment that's not necessarily related to any other detail you've mentioned but is related to the topic is not allowed? Please point me to the set of rules for discussion on Blue's News so I can get it right next time.

You're allowed to use any logical fallacy you want, just don't expect anyone to take your argument seriously.

Again -- you with the whole black and white thing. I never said it was a dumb idea. I've said from the start that I encourage people exercising their right to free speech and right to assemble. This is a special interest group and there's nothing wrong with that.

And again with the not being able to read thing. I didn't say you said it was a dumb idea, I said you made a post agreeing with someone who said it was a dumb idea.

By the time I jumped in on the thread, it had already gone beyond GaymerCon. I disagree with the idea that drawing a line and making a bunch of noise to establish the fact that you are different, as the gay community is still doing, is an effective means of accomplishing social change or enhancing rights.

Ok, so you don't think GaymerCon is a dumb idea, but you think that establishing that you are different - which is exactly what GaymerCon does - is a dumb idea. And you wonder why you're being perceived as inconsistent.

Childish would be 'you're ugly and your mother dresses you funny'. I can't possibly know that.

I still think you're a fucking idiot, and that's based on an opinion I've formed of you. Not childish, just my observation.

Having to resort to insults in an attempt to bolster your position is childish, regardless of what rationalization you use for them.

Not to mention, of course, that it's blatantly against the forum rules - or are you going to claim you need those rules pointed out to you too?

Glad to keep you entertained. The fact that in your last response none of your points had anything to do with the thread topic tells me you do want to find a reason to argue.

This from the guy who was chastising me earlier for making the assumption that he was talking on-topic... What was your response again? Oh, yes, "I was responding to your generalizations, which were in response to discussions that strayed off topic. Feel free to keep it on topic."

If you don't take me seriously, why do you continue to respond anyway?

Sometimes I get trolled successfully I guess. I'll have to work on that.

Or an RNC news brief?
But he agreed with someone saying homosexuality was a fetish. Not only is that pretty inaccurate and offensive (deliberately so), but is it really all that different than saying it?

What I agreed with was being tired of the whole attitude that if you don't embrace the whole gay acceptance political agenda you're automatically labeled a bigot. That's all I agreed with. You of course have gone out of your way to do so thus far proving my point in the first place.

The rest has been a bunch of word twisting and flat out PC bullshit. Granted considering the source, not very surprising.

Margarita mix is a sin.

3 parts Cabo Wabo Reposado
1 part freshly squeezed lime juice
1 part Triple Sec
splash of blue curacao

Shake it like a martini, pour it into a martini glass, and drink it like a martini.

You can also replace the triple sec with Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or any combination of those three to suit your taste

If you do a tasting don't leave out the Cabo Reposado.

Tho I would touch nothing but beer for the longest time, then nothing at all as weed became the drug of choice. Just in the last 10 years or so I finally got a taste for hard stuff which is why I don't favor brands. Too many to try yet. heh. Tho Vodka is generally whatever...

Tequila is my numero uno, however.

I'm trying to get my friends to agree to a tequila tasting party. It's the easiest alcohol to actually understand. Blanco, Anejo, Respado - all very different. I figure I can teach them to be experts at something. And get them to stop trying to use my Don Julio Respado to mix with premade margarita mix.
