Out of the Blue

Today is Yom Kippur, which began at sundown last night. This is a day of atonement, so "happy" Yom Kippur is not appropriate: I think the proper sentiment is to wish all of you commemorating this a good an easy fast. While this is not my holiday, I'm sure I have some atoning to do, so I'll try to keep this in mind along the way.

I get the impression you think I'm raging at the other end of the tubes here- I'm not.

It's more like I see a small core of snide folks that think they're smart enough to tell everyone else how to live; so I start flicking ice cubes at their heads to see if they're more than talk.

Anyhow,

The negativity on here even concerning games is huge. Meh, I'm done posting here- kudos to all those that exhibit a positive attitude about my oldest hobby.

Take care BN's- I'll be a reader of headlines/links still.

Dude, you can do whatever you want, but you're the one complaining about the state of things. I'm just telling you there's a better world out there for you to experience. Why suffer here, when you can live in utopia? It just seems kind of pointless, seeing how those tricky libruls are taking over America. They even rigged the polls to trick people into thinking they're winning so they can win the election! Or something. Within minutes of Obama's reelection, the feds will confiscate the nations guns, hike the tax rate to 50%, and abolish all business. Do you want to live in a world like that?

I can purchase, maintain and use brakes as I need to just fine thank you. Brakes weren't invented by government command either- .gov didn't build that.

Here's my question- do you actually think you're part of setting command economy policy or do you only get to agree with the policies set by others?

Dude, equating smart regulation with the "command economy" like those of Soviet Russia is hyperbolic to the point of absurdity. But if you prefer your economy unfettered by regulations and laws, I hear Somalia is excepting citizenship applications. Let me know how your business ventures over there turn out.

I like high gas prices. Gasoline is a dead end. Higher prices drive new technologies to get us to where we need to go. The run up in oil prices in 2008 is driving the current crop of hybrids and electrics. If not for that, we'd be seeing much less development and adoption. Despite that, the USA already has some of the lowest gas prices in the world outside of Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, where gas is heavily subsidized. And being forced to buy oil from regimes that hate us threatens our national security. Whatever you think of global warming, getting off of gasoline is good for a multitude of other reasons.

Yea for command economies!

Like bankruptcy, may as well, we're already going that route anyway.

I certainly don't disagree getting off gas would be great, but sitting back and doing nothing about rising gas prices is all sorts of fail. Then again with all the lobbying that goes on realistically we're more than likely never getting off gasoline.

Dude, Fourteen years ago we had a freakin' war with Canada. Where have you been?

On a more serious note, while we get the most oil from Canada, it is a plurality, not a majority. Canada supplies less than a third of our overall oil imports. OPEC countries combine to supply the US with more crude than Canada does.

I watched that the other day, great movie!

I'm right there with you Prez, after I seen it I couldn't tell enough people about it. There's plenty of us that feel the same way, it's just that we're a lot like the main character in the film, we just take it in stride most of the time until we snap. We allow these crap shows to ruin the world because we watch them and we click on the links when an article presents itself to us on yahoo, google, whatever. I refuse to watch this crap and I will no longer click on any entertainment link that further inflates the ego/wallet of those shoving this trash down our throats and trying to make us think this is acceptable. Did I mention the main character is Bill Murray's brother, where did this guy come from and why have they been hiding him, he's great!

This is very good news... My next car might be Tesla.

I believe Tesla currently makes one car, and it costs somewhere along the lines of a hundred grand.

You better be driving a fuckload of miles to make that worth it. (which is pretty much the case with all hybrids. Couple I know at work just got a hybrid, and they drive like 6000 miles a year. Soo... you guys just threw away your money, basically? At least you can feel good about being an eco-hippie!)

LOOPER - Official Trailer

DO NOT watch the trailer. It gives away too much. Just go see the movie cold, if you like sci fi. Rian Johnson is an up and coming incredibly talented director. The movie currently sits at 92% on RT, and is getting rave reviews.
