Diablo III 1.0.5 Notes; PTR Coming

The Diablo III Website announces Blizzard will soon be launching a PTR (Public Test Realm) for Diablo III, allowing the chance to check prerelease versions of upcoming changes to their action/RPG sequel. They accompany this with the release of PTR Patch 1.0.5 Notes for the next patch for the game, offering details on the new Monster Power system, the new Infernal Machine event, and gameplay changes, which include changes to monster damage and defensive abilities, two new shrines, diminishing returns on crowd control effects, class balance tweaks, and more.

Lol?

I think adults probably have better things to do than that.

Pretty much this. Jay Wilson pretty much found a way to fuck up a guaranteed formula for success when he said nothing about Diablo 2 was fun and his way is better. Cut that turd loose before the next expansion and it might be worth checking out again.

...but first, they need to get their MMO horseshit out of Diablo so all the players who came from WoW and think they're awesome ideas can disperse along with all these shitty 'features' and design choices.

Diablo 3 is a financial success which capitalized on hype and name but has nothing to keep many to go back for more. I really, really doubt this game will have the same kind of legs as D2 when it comes to player loyalty.

D3 is a hugely successful game. Its bound to affect many, many people.

Sad part is whenever BluesNews creates a news post about D3, its the same cry babies who post their negative shit no matter what news post is about.

Seriously, you like TL2 go play that and leave the adults to continue the discussion about D3 and its direction moving forward.

Sorry Blizzard but TL2 just issued the deathblow at a fraction of the cost for your game. Maybe you'll get it right the first time around on your next game.

So you only play games for fun, but you didn't have any fun beating diablo 3 THREE times before you hit the inferno difficulty... and then only complained about the end game part that actually requires a time investment. Then you play torchlight which has no light at the end of the tunnel, nothing written on the walls of the tunnel, and the tunnel floor is littered with every perfect item drop you need for an upgrade at all times. And that is now deemed "fun". OK.

I don't know about all that. But when I played both, I found TL2 much more fun to play.

I guess calling my monk a "self founder" is a bit of a stretch. I mostly geared him with stuff I found while playing my WD. My WD has some GAH items (the legendary neck i found though) from before the 1.0.4 patch, because the class was just very broken. I just got my monk physically into inferno the other day, and his gear has been... waiting for him

Before you ask... I've been collecting cold resist gear for use with the one with everything passive... and crit chance gear basically. I use deadly reach/scattered blows because teleporting all over the place with thunderclap gives me a headache. He's going to need another upgrade or 2 before he "walks right into act 2" solo... but I rarely play by myself anyway, and post 1.0.4 that makes everything insanely easier.

I found about 1000 life on hit makes act 2 pretty easy for a monk (you'll note my off hand is pretty lousy but has a really nice life on hit boost.)

Cyclone strike - nice. That's easily my favorite monk skill. I run that when I game with friends (which is usually.) Demon hunters and witch doctors love me for it. Although I run the rune that let's me spam it.

It seems to me like you are the one that needs some fresh air. You are obsessed with loot-whoring games, but don't like farming for loot. Hilarious!

To me, loot is just one portion of an ARPG. A good ARGP, and D3 has some of those elements, is about character progression with stats and items, having fun destroying interesting MOBs, and progressing through the story (D1/2/3 had good cut scenes to help move it along). If all the above is good, then there is replayabiltiy with another character.

I play games for fun (and only usually about 6-10 hours per week), if you want to live in a blender and do the same stuff over and over again, then go for it, I just think it's a waste of time with so many other things to do. Hilarious? Playing a game for fun even if it's an ARPG? Then my impression of your world is "sad".

Wrong. Oh, it will appear as though they have learned by throwing out a few patches for you. But they will NEVER learn. Under the table, they will NEVER learn, because they don't want to, because that's not in THEIR best interest for making money.

You're right. You know why? Because TL2 was specifically made to be fun. You'll see why if you play it.

Runic has made it clear that no Shark in a Suit with a briefcase of money will come and buy them out. So, no, not going to happen. You have not realized yet that Runic is different than the other companies. They are a small company that actually cares about you, and has a passion for this game.

Pretty much, yup. Offline, or no deal, Blizzard.

But even so; even if they do add offline mode, you should not forgive them for this, because in the end they will NEVER learn. You WILL be deceived once again in the future.

TL2 was made to be FUN, hence all the positive reviews in the news.

That will not happen and I wager an eBet.
This won't happen, because TL2 was made to be FUN. You will find your items, and they will be of high quality.

Can you explain the difference between replaying an act in diablo 3 and playing the "next generated map" from torchlight?

That's OK, we got GW2, TL2, and BL2... all set.

You realize that these games (even your precious TL2) are built around... farming for loot... that is the sole purpose of playing them... right? It's certainly not because "click click click" with a kmouse pointer is enticing or terribly strategic gameplay, and it certainly isn't for the story...

Sure, I go through the story with a character, take the loot the game gives me (with good balance it should be rewarding enough), then when I am done and if the game is good, do it with another character. Or I will go the next level in difficulty and continue.

There are other games to play and real life stuff happening then to waste time killing the same MOB over and over again for a virtual item. I play games for fun, I don't see how farming is fun... Now farming is strategic? LoL... oh man... take a walk, get some fresh air.

Anytime a game makes me FARM for "interesting" loot it will be shelved relatively quick.

What games do you think you are playing?!?

Your honor, I rest my case.

Pretty sure he said you farm late inferno to get upgrades, not "interesting" loot. The really interesting stuff are the new legendaries, and the lower level ones drop quite a bit now actually.
(They increased the drop rate for lower level legendaries significantly.)

Accomplishing the same(or comparable) feat in D2 was far, far more enjoyable

This is a huge diversion in the thinking process. What was there in D2 that was "comparable" to the difficulty in Inferno? Playing Hell act 4 naked? It certainly wasn't killing cows...

There was an end game in D3, something so hard to do that there was really a reason to farm... something that has never existed in these top down hacknslash games before... and all people could complain about was that they didn't get "orange and green items" that were not necessary to complete that difficulty level anyway!

Now you are telling me that when you got to the end of the content (act 4 inferno) in D3 (just like the end of act4 hell in D2) you "don't see the point in continuing to farm" even though that is the EXACT point when people just began to pointlessly farm the cow level and Mephisto in D2. You didn't need to farm anything at all to complete the toughest challenge in D2. You didn't need to farm anything at all to completel the toughest challenge in torchlight 1 either...
