What she said has been taken completely out of context. In an interview, she said that there are some games that contain both action sequences and some more narratively and dialogue driven. Lots of games allow you to completely skip the narrative and dialogue bits if you want to.
Some people prefer the narrative bits (some old time adventure and RPG players come to mind) and like the "dialogue duel" way of winning that is present in games such as Alpha Protocol or Mass Effect. "Perhaps", she speculated "we could in some games let those who prefer the narrative bits to skip the action sequences". She took herself as an example - she has painful arthritis which makes it painful to play the action sequences in the very games she writes for. She loves games and has probably been playing them for longer than most of those who criticize her.
In the internet rumor mill, this becomes "she hates games" and "go back to the kitchen woman" from the tiny boys who feel threatened by her presence, and those who find it utterly incomprehensible that other people may enjoy other things than "pew-pew-everyone-die" in games.

Yeah... she caused quite a bit of an uproar (rightfully so) when she mentioned that games should have a skip game/combat feature so you could see the next part of the story.
There's still great gaming companies out there, but Bioware is no longer one of them. |

From the state of Bioware over the last several years I'd say a lot of them don't like videogames, or know what good ones are/were.
